Best way to position seperate STL files is to use the Assembly application.

Nice, a lot easier than I've been doing previously.

Glad to hear that. Sometimes we get wrapped up in our own little engineering world we forget some basic tools that make easy. I have been guilty of that.

This is great, now I don't need to pay for that Reverse Engineering license 😆

I like your concept and workflow. Your intersection command results in a spline because it is faceted data. You can use the "Optimize 2d Curve" to get lines and arcs from the splines. This would be easier than sketching the circle as you did. Also, NX could have easily recognized the cylindrical (or perhaps it was conical) face. From that you could easily extract a centerline.

This scan was in no way good enough to pull center lines. I tried. The tapers on those faces are not true conics. Looks like they were drafted from the curved surface. I have messed with the Optimize 2D curve and it does a good job. I am used to not doing that as I want to match to a single curve most of the time when I am slabbing to a scan thus I forget it is there or to lazy to make the switch.

OPEN STL FILE IN NX CAD , SAVE AS TO STEP FORMAT, MAKE DRAFTING VIEWS AND DIEMENSIONS...IS IT POSSIBLE. MEANS MAKE SEPARATE VIDEO ABOVE SAID TYPES.
