I don’t think how Naomi told Ruth to approach Boaz was much less than bold. The threshing floor is where, once they’ve harvested the wheat, they process the wheat into the next stage for use. This successful man, entrepreneur, farmer, land developer, is out there working his business and resting overnight for the next day of hard work... So after Boaz notices Ruth and is kind and generous to her, Naomi tells Ruth to get dolled up and wait until Boaz is done with his busy and tiresome day, he’s asleep!, ... Naomi tells Ruth to approach in the cover of night and touch Boaz in a modest but vulnerable way, and basically proposition him. Boaz is known to be a good man, and he’s made it clear he likes and respects Ruth. He recognizes he’s found a wife in Ruth. So when she tells him what she needs, he steps up and runs the idea by his community, bahdahbing. Boaz and Ruth then Obed.

Love this Pastor! The only problem is that we as women are tired of carrying the entire load of dating. Don't put talking to men about dating and courting to the back burner. No one ever shows them how to do their part, the entire focus in the church is always on the women and it's severely unbalanced. Also, the greater majority of women are very educated on dating, they get ready, they read books, they study how to be a wife. Not all, but many do. While christian men play games and are never held accountable for it, instead women are told and taught how to "avoid" those men. Boaz was related to Noami the former mother in law. the cousin of Noami's husband. It does not mention Ruth's age. nor which son she married. Ruth was a Moab. Boaz never took advantage of her. When he found her beside him the next morning she was telling him she had eyes for him. She could have told Naomi no, but she was looking to be with him. Naomi said to watch and see where you lay, but laid feet to head to him. and great grandmother to David. Boaz even gave other kinsman authority to take her as a bride. Dr. D! You my boy. I got your book “Relational Intelligence,” and all of that. But I got a few questions on this one. From your exogetical perspective what do you believe happened on the threshing floor after Ruth uncovered Boaz’s feet? My hermeneutic of suspicion has always been peeked by that story. Why go at night? Why make sure no ones sees? Why wait until after he has ate and “drank”? What kind of drink is being referred to in the text? Secondly, the young man who made reference to commitment vs. connection. Isn’t commitment supposed to be central and primary? I thought that even when a marriage loses its fire/connection (as I’m told all do, at times) one must honor the commitment. Commitment to one another and commitment to working on connection beyond/above feelings but, through discipline, honor, and righteousness is what I thought was the call of God in marriage. Your guest made it seem as if connection was primarily, though I understand what he was trying to say, I felt it be a bit askew. Still, I’m open for clarification and correction.
