I teach negative and positive discipline. Always start with positive discipline. A good example is if son hits his sister he has to make it up to her by making her bed for 2 days. That's positive as it's teaching him how to be nice and isn't taking anything away from him or harming him. If he doesn't follow through, then hit him with the negative discipline: media blackout for 2 days. I always say, "Your choice, you can either do the positive or the negative ... up to you." Been teaching this forever and it works beautifully.

Please that’s not true at all. Everyone gloats about how wonderful and respectful my 6 year old son is and how amazing mature and respectful and understanding he is with his newborn baby sister! And they all say how shocked they are bc they know so many 6 year olds who are the complete and total OPPOSITE and how many siblings don’t accept their newborn sibling and I’ve heard of so many children going thru a phase where they hit or bite? I’ve thankfully NEVER not once ever had to deal wit that! Never has my son hit or bitten me or anyone else! And guess what? I raise him with postive gentle parenting! It works for US
