I would love to hear an induction video. I had a really awful birth so I'm exploring all my options for next time, if I'm ever lucky enough to have another one. Thanks for sharing your birth story💕

Midwife here- I've been at hundreds of births, including providing care to mums being induced - the hormine drip is, for the majority of women, more painful than natural labour; obviously how high the dose goes is a factor in that. Also a factor, is if your body has laboured before, and if your cervix is ready or is still long and closed.

Thanks for sharing. It's validating to hear you talk about how quickly you dilated when you were being induced. A very similar thing happened to me during my induction; the contractions became so incredibly painful that I could have sworn I was in transitional labor, but I was only 5cm. I panicked and got the epidural, and he was born about half an hour/45 minutes later. Now I know for next time. I wonder if this is common with inductions.

Thanks for sharing! I’m so glad you had a positive induction experience! My birth story was almost identical to yours. I felt the same about the pitocin contractions too, they weren’t unbearable until the very end. 😅

It's fairly normal for mums having 2nd, 3rd, especially 4th babies, to dilate VERY quickly. I had one day at work where twice in the same day, I cared for 2 mums who were both 3cm when I checked, as they wanted an epidural (both being induced and had been on the drip for few hours). Then they power vomitted, then less than 5 mins later, were pushing their babies out 😅. I don't wish rapid labpurs on anyone though- having your body go from not very dilated to pushing baby outin under an hour, is VERY intense, and often women feel very shaky, vomit, hot flushes, and spaced out afterwards.

I agree with the pitocin contractions not hurting until towards the end. I've had 2 induced labors and id say my naturaly started labors hurt more from the get go. Ive had 3 of those and i always ended up getting the epidural i didnt want to be worn out from all the pain and not be able to enjoy my babies. My pusing stages have never been affected by the epidurals, my first son was born within 20 minutes from start of pushing. All the rest have been born within 3 minutes of starting to push. :)

Having had babies before definitely makes it easier / more manageable, mainly because rhe dose is lower. If your cervix is long, closed, and it's first baby, the dose needed is a lot higher, and is more painful. That's not to put anyone off (there's the option of an.epidural), it's just my experience, having provided labpur care to hundreds of women over my 18 yrs of being a midwife
