What happens to intrathoracic pressure during expiration when PPV/PEEP is applied? Could you explain what drawing the intrathoracic pressure would look like? I just see the intraalveolar pressure graphed beneath the example. Thank you!

@docgirl135 жыл бұрын
Nitish, PEEP or positive end expiratory pressure is a set pressure by ventilator to keep the alveoli from collapsing at the end of each breath. If you want I will explain in detail.

Sir how Positive end expiratory pressure will lead to venous return impaction..
@boredtodeath7416 жыл бұрын
i had the same question. I think it's because venous return relies on negative thoracic pressure.The negative pressure expands the lung but also the heart chambers and ivc and svc, causing blood to flow high to low pressure. PEEP causes positive pressure so you get decreased venous return. I hope that's right.
@docgirl135 жыл бұрын
@@boredtodeath741 You are right. The increased Intra thoracic pressure caused by PEEP reduces venous return, a) because the negative suction action is reduced. b) the right atrium gets compressed by the increased pressure.
