Not only educational but had me laughing with your comments on being pushed for finding a die that shape for the base as didnt know what shape it was! It's so nice you don't edit out these parts as we all love them & appearances from your Kitty too! Brilliant as always 🙂

To resolve the wonky lid problem, glue the little tab to form a circle. Next, glue 2 opposite flaps of the lid together first, then check they are aligned and parallel by putting the lid over the bottom of the box. Once they are firm, take the lid off and glue the next 2 opposite flaps, then align them as before. Do the same again for the final 2 flaps and you should have a properly shaped octaGonal lid.

I think that if you cut two hexagons the size of the pencil top, then formed the lid over and around them, it would keep the top more regular. Great job!

Hi Theresa. That's the first thing I tried, but it was way too big. If you mark out the 1+13/16 before scoring and glue opposite flaps without forcing them together, the hexagon shape stays right x

Place a piece of washi tape at where the 1 1/13ths are to help you see the line. Would be good done in rainbow colours as decor in a kids room
