In this video, we discuss Subject and Possessive Pronouns, as well as how to use Possessive Adjectives.
We can replace, for example, a name with a pronoun for subjects (ie: Matt → He) or objects (ie: Mark → him). We can also replace a possessive (ie: Matt's → his).
For example:
Matt takes Mark's pen.
Who took Mark's pen?
Matt took it. (Mark's pen = it)
What did Matt take?
He took Mark's pen. (He = Matt)
Did Matt take Mark's pen?
Yes, he took it. (He = Matt and it = Mark's pen)

Hello sir, I have a question. So I read that Possessive Pronoun has two types, Dependent and Independent. And the one you mentioned in this video is Independent. So I'm wondering, what's the difference between the Dependent Possessive Pronoun and Possessive Adjective?

Thank you so much for your this video i understood it but i have a question a bout it please please please answer me you said in possessive adjective we have to put a noun after them but in possessive pronouns we do not have to put a noun after them because pronoun is a word that replaces a noun but how can we know its in the sentences is possessive pronoun or possessive adjective because you said in its we have to put a noun always it is its ball. what is (its) in this sentence it is possessive pronoun or possessive adjective? what should we say?
@TeachersMarkandMatt
@TeachersMarkandMatt 28 күн бұрын
• Possessive adjective: “Its” in “It is its ball” (modifies the noun “ball”). • Possessive pronoun: “Its” would stand alone, like “This ball is its” (which is not standard usage because “its” as a possessive pronoun is rarely used without a noun).

An adjective can come before a noun or after a BE verb -> He is a happy man. There are three happy men. Is the man happy? Who is happy? The man is happy. These three men are happy.
