Possibly THE WORST version of Mortal Kombat 3? ATGAMES Sega Genesis Classic

About a month ago I showed off the ATGAMES Sega Genesis Classic system and while it looked like a promising system it definitely had its faults. Mortal Kombat 3 for Sega Genesis was pretty good, so how did this little piece of crap handle it? Watch and see!

If the genesis emulation was perfect it would be great. I made a all Sega build for RetroPie on my pi 3b+. It has master system, game gear, genesis, 32x and Sega CD. Perfect emulation and sound and inside USB Sega Genesis mini 3 button controllers too

The biggest issue with the Genesis was the limited color pallete. 512 colors compared to the SNES which had 32,768. The Genesis had the superior sound chip but in order to fit all the speech samples on a cartridge, they had to be heavily compressed, hence why they sound crunchy.

Think it’s the other way around. It’s not as vibrant but the Genesis version looks decent for lack of colors, but sounds and music for anything that was on both platforms was always worse on the Genesis. I think when they were developing it that’s where the least amount of effort went. Which is perplexing because Genesis was the first system to come with a stereo headphone jack, but when it launched most people were still using mono TVs.

I have the 2017 Atgames HD system and I really like it. I have fun with the MK titles plus it has another 40 plus Sega games. I only paid 35 dollars for the system and I really like it.

Snes since MK2 had way better versions. MK 1 snes had better graphics and sound but they removed the blood.

i have the portable Genesis from ATGames, the emulation speed is faster than the OG while the pitch is wayyyyy lower than the OG. Combos are hard to input and it's impossible to input attacks. It's the case for the other MK games too and for the emulation bugs it's for every game in the console. Overall, it would be hard to make something worse than that.

A big shocker considering how well MK1 for Game Gear turned out. (Then again, MKII & MK3 had no business being even worse when they're literally based on the Gameboy versions...)

I remember the neighbor having MK1 on Genesis. I had a Genesis too. My dad's friend ended up with a Turbo Grafix 16 I heard. I am repopulating my N64 Collection with was just down to 1; just got MK Trilogy and 4. I only believe in Cartridges; I think CD console fighters aren't as responsive.

MK3 was highly Demanding game released in 1995, genesis released 1988, so It's huge achievements for SEGA to make smooth fast game despite hardware limitation. by the way your level of playing is excellent

They had to use a bigger mapper and a bigger ROM size for MK3 and Ultimate MK3 on genesis.

What's really weird is that if you use an original mk3 cartridge with this system, the game won't load (it shows the blue error screen). I tried many times and only once I got the game to run and it had the same issues as the version included in the console 🤷🏻‍♂️

Then most probably the console is PAL-esque... Doesn't it have a region switch somewhere? Clone systems had these issues and the region switch was exactly to fix it.

I have a At games genesis portable. Mk runs pretty good on that as well. The Sound isn’t that great also.

Ahh this isn’t technically the Genesis version, the cartridge plays way better than this. Not sure how they managed to mess up this emulated version but they did. The speed is ok after you get used to it though.

Completely disagree. SEGA Genesis had a good, bass heavy aesthetic to it's sound best realized in games like Streets of Rage, Mortal Kombat, Sonic the Hedgehog. The Shinobi games, Sunsoft games like Justice League Task Force and SEGA Sports titles. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

The 2019 Sega Genesis Flashback is the ATGames is the one you want (one with the white trim). you can mod it and even play Sega CD games if you have an SD card. UMK3 is much better on that.

You guys have to remember, that in the United States of America the genesis was beating the snes 2 to 1. Most Americans who owned a Sega Genesis will tell you all of the mortal Kombat from 1 to UMK3 are all better on Genesis. Actually no. Snes Mortal kombat looked almost and sounded like the arcade with superior graphics and sound, where the snes failed was in content especially with MK1 and UMK3 which made genesis version superior. Mk2 and Mk3 are superior on snes for content, graphics and audio. I'm not sure of you guys remember Nintendo was not seen as a cool console back in the 90s due to aggressive marketing from Sega and later Sony which led Sega and later Sony to dominate the console market in the United States from Nintendo such as cool factor. A Nintendo home console won't become popular again in the United States until the Wii was released 10 years later. Between 1996 and 2006 their was snes, n64 GameCube and Wii launch.

This was a HUGE upgrade in comparison to mk1 and 2. Almost all the voices. Nice music. Good control. All backgrounds. Somestuff just cannot be better due that console limitations, some backgrounds looks ok someother way to grainy, is dificult to get realistic graphic with a 64color onscreen machine. A very good port for the hardware.

I actually preferred the Genesis version over the SNES because of the speed. Maybe it's because I played that version first. Sure, the graphics and sound are washed out, but everything is in there. It seems they opted to convert many of the sound effects into internally generated synth effects vs sampled sounds, obviously for performance purposes.

It's bad. I was playing MK3 snes this morning (Cyrax). I just needed one hit on Shao Kahn to beat it on medium - on my last kredit. But he got me. Awesome version.

This is obviously the best version. Not sure what you're seeing. It looks FLAWLESS, and the movements are the opposite of what you're describing. I give this version 5 Stars, and would give up my Sega Genesis for this any day of the week. Thank you ATGames

@@BushyStallion I've just read this off the manual "NOTE: If you are defeated by Goro and do not press a button to continue before the counter reaches 0, the game may crash to a black screen. If this happens, please restart the device" 😂😂😂😂 Also ,apparently, there's a post at GamersDugrenier to mod this console with a switch for PAL and NTSC. The website is french, so might need translation. You could try looking at it over and see if you have the same board and apply that quick fix?
