It's true. People wouldn't assume a civilization that's been gone for thousands of years would have/use something we wouldn't know. Ancient times we're also times of plethora of rituals and sacrifices, so it would technically stand to reason to call something ceremonial or ritual if they didn't figure out it's purpose (which should be impossible, we are literally them, but from the future)

I think the string of lights is an ancient calendar. Yellow for the autumn harvest and the turning leaves. Blue for ice and winter. Green for spring and new growth. Purple for summer...I'm guessing some kind of purple flower the ancients held as sacred? Or maybe the legendary purple car is associated with summer. Some cars with removable roofs - "convertibles" - are associated with summer sometimes.
