Great review, the weight of this back is incredibly, my osprey 50 L weighs 4.5 Lbs, it’s a great pack. I’m on the fence about pulling the trigger, it’s a bit pricey, 24 oz is the bomb. Thanks for the information.

Thank you. Different packs for different needs. This load-out helps me hike longer without backpain. There are different variations of arc haul now (I will be reviewing) and I'll be using it on my next thru-hike early 2023. It's my go-to pack. ✌️

Howdy Mr Positive. I have had the arc haul for four years. I put my tent on the bottom straps you put your gossamer gear pad on. No problems. Like Unicorn, I put my wilde ideas canister in sideways. I love the pack as well.🤙 happiest know time. Except I did not put the lime green on. Mine is black. lol. stay cool.

Of course barney would go 62L lol. Those dinosaur harnesses packability 1/5. Yes the arc haul is a sweet pack. I wager I could take it on another thru. #StillOnMyZero

Lots of good info, amazing how it held up for 5+ months. Worth the price when you’re using it all day every day for almost half a year. Break down the cost per hour and it’s actually really cheap 👍

Yes. It was carried through 200 miles on AT and FL trail as well. I'm looking fwd to trying different gear and compare moving fwd. But for now, gotta put these up for reference. The total cost of the whole trip can be broken down the same way per hour was actually a lot better than most vacations we've taken in the past minus opportunity cost of course. I'll try n get these reviews out on a schedule. 🤙

Great review, how does it feel on the lower back?
@RNTULexplores2 жыл бұрын
Lower back no issues...mind you i had sciatica before we started our thru hike which effected my lower back. The arc took care of a lot and eventually after 2 weeks in the desert the body shook off the pain. Not one time did i consider switching packs on the thru hike. Thanks for the question.

Yeah I think Althea backpack would be a lot more than $100. My osprey was $250 on sale. That one goes for $300 at least.

Yes lol. It has been a journey w gear obsession. I too was surprised years ago when looking at packs for thru hiking. I usually wound up buying replacements when i shopped on price and then wound up spending more $. Not enough time in the year to keep testing out different brands/ gear on these hikes lol 😆 truly enjoy it.

What about hyper light backpack? Why u didn't choosed this?

Load-lifters, weight, colors and variety. Added bonus Zpacks assembles the packs in the good ol' USA right here in FL. To name a few...those characteristics always seem to draw me back to Zpacks. Great question and Happiest Known Time to ya! ✌️

Hey are you guys following this years migration of 2022 PCT hikers? I know you already did it and you back at home life so you may be watching just like the rest of us "desktop hikers". Since, you actually hiked it yourselves, I'm not sure if that is enjoyable for you to watch. However, it would be very interesting for us "desktop hikers" to watch your comments on their progress. Real thru hiker to real thru hiker actually on trail and in almost real time fresh content reporting. There is absolutely no centralized/organized representation of PCT hikers or thru hiking in general. "maybe" a local tv channel might do a 5 minute blurb of a local resident. "maybe" a big network does a cool/exciting/dramatic 30 second "hiker/hero/adventure...whatever" on it. However, you and us "long form and real time" video watchers know that's crap. We have to really do some search work on the keyboard to find good quality stuff. I have picked some favorites. Actually, anybody who has the time/energy/extra pack weight to vlog on trail is on my PCT 2022 subscribe list. There are barely a dozen PCT 2022 hikers that have created channels to intro and begin vlogging, right now,. I know most hikers just post a few instagram or ticktok which are just unedited "home movies" to just share with a few friends. I applaud anyone who takes the time to film, edit, score and create a piece of personal documentation to "share with the world" on youtube. So, for me it would be Awesome if somebody were to started a PCT 2022 hiker review channel or something, and reporting on all the hikers, weather conditions, towns, trail angels,...etc. BTW, contratulations on your own PCT 2021. KEep on

First and foremost thank you for the compliments. As goals change our plans do as well...our future adventures can take several pathways but not quite near any solid decisions. In the meantime, following along as you suggested might happen as the hiking season matures. I enjoy watching folks have a good time as well. As far as daily trail vloggers vs the avg insta or tok post, thats just personal preference. Daily vloggging can suck the life out of you but every nite, after editing, there was an appreciation of the day because i spent a good deal recapping it. I mean, recapping my daily w2 life wouldnt be anywhere as gratifying as reflecting on each day in beautiful trail life. By filming each trail day, there was a direct appreciation for nature each and every moment. It made you stop...think....appreciate. The gear prep/props/being a gram weeny and all that was part of the obsession of sharing the experience with a wide audience. I've had brief interaction with a view other vloggers and love to see what other folks are up to. However, the busy planning and daily routines in order to launch our next great exploration is ever-consuming. I'll be deciding when to shoot another video sometime in the future once we narrow down a few options. Maybe a new gear review. In short, I'm sure we can find plenty of interesting vlogs on the pct for 2022. We're extremely fortunate of the friendships that have blossomed from this online community. #happiestknowntime to the class of 2022. Day by day step by step.
