Get You Own PaleoHikerMD Patches HERE!: www.etsy.com/s... Over the last 2-3 years I have really concentrated on getting my weight down. Here is the thing, as you get older weight matters! It's just much more enjoyable for me to get out on trail with less weight on my back. My original backpack I bought was the Osprey Kestrel 48, that on it's own weighs 56 OUNCES. My ZPacks Arc Zip weighs 26 OUNCES...Do the math :)

The “is it worth it?” question doesn’t really need to be addressed specifically in a review. There are just too many factors involved in an individuals purchase of anything from cheetos to rolex watches to place value for someone other than ourselves. Thanks for the review. That Cuban fiber is amazing.

If you watched this video to the end, you'd see him completely dismantle this argument. He even specifically uses Rolex watches as an example. He explains his awareness of the subjectivity. Looks like alot of people here did not watch till the end lol.

I think I'll try this one :) Thank you for the video, they've all been very helpful... I just thought of this, I think my osprey cost about the same as this. To me it seems reasonably priced. I was leaning toward the HMG until I saw this one with the zipper. You have saved me a bunch of money :) before I started watching these videos I bought a lot of things I wasn't really happy with most of it just to see what it was. Lots and lots of titanium, I don't think there's a titanium frying pan on planet earth that works. lol Anyway your videos are awesome!

I have a 40L kids pack that weighs 26 onces. It's my long trail pack and my ultralight. New, they're around 60 to 80 dollars. Bought mine at a second hand store for $2.50. Going light doesn't have to cost hundreds of dollars. If you're going to go light, be smart about it. I'm 6'4'.

That is so awesome !! I love that its like having a piece of luggage on your back . You can open it up and get to anything. That is a game changer to me . Wow . Thank you for posting this video. Yes I can't afford it but it does give me hope that another cheaper version will come out . And until then it gives me something to save for if I can . Take care and stay safe my friend

Yet another very important and impressive characteristic this thermoplastic fiber has is absolutely outstanding abrasion resistance and chemical resistance to most anything under the sun.

Is a Dyneema ( Cuben fiber ) pack worth it........ In my case , YES , as a ultralight backpacker. Plus it always rains on me and a Cuben Fiber pack is waterproof. Does not adsorb water like a normal pack does causing additional weight. My Nero is 10.5 ounces and is a 38 liter pack. Letting me have a base pack weight of 6 to 9 pounds , normally around 7 pounds. If more items are required ( cold weather or over packing ) my Arc Blast does the trick at 55 liters and 20.1 ounces. Both packs have hip belt pouches and shoulder strap pouches. The Arc Blast even has the additional top pockets.

I'd argue a pack that gets holes in it easily delaminates under uv faster and after a full thru hike basically needs to be replaced isn't very good quality sounds more like a cheap throwaway piece of gear if you ask me...

Liked your review and the common sense advice. In addition to backpacking, I use my backpack as luggage when I travel. My question to you: do you think this pack would hold up and thrive going through baggage handlers in the airport? If it is airport tough, it’s on my Christmas list.

I carry a Kelty Trekker and a Kelty Tioga both of these backpacks are the best on the market...there is not a better Backpack .... both of these designs with modern upgrades have been made since the 1950's...and have a lifetime warranty...how long has the Arc Blast been made and how long is Zpacks pack warrantied for? There is nothing like a Classic External Frame Backpack with the torso size dialed in... I watch as many videos of yours that I can find...I am a great fan of your information... We just have different tastes in Backpacks...But I still love watching and learnings from you... As a Classic Backpacker...I can still carry a 10lb or less base weight, but I like to always carry a 4 season Ultralight gear kit.... blessings. There is only great things to say about a Classic Backpacker... With a lifetime warranty...

Dyneema/Cuben Fiber for pouches, internal organizers but not for packs, imo. I’m not compromising durability for a few pounds. I cut weight where I can (titanium, aluminum, etc.) but ultralight guys are just asking for trouble. In the quest for the lightest loads possible a lot of them don’t carry an adequate fixed blade, full-tang knife (they seem to think a small dinky folding knife is up to the challenge should they need to survive, suddenly). Not to mention they think saws/axes are ridiculous. I carry a medium to moderately heavy load generally, but guess what: 1. it helps build muscle and endurance 2. I will not as easily expire if faced with calamity (see 127 Hours for more elucidation)
@MrTangent
@MrTangent 3 жыл бұрын
With that said, I might be swayed toward Dyneema for a pack if: 1. They get the crinkle sound under control 2. Have subdued color options 3. Add a tad more weight so I could have a stronger, more durable pack Thanks for the review though. Looks like a great pack, my niggling aside. :)

Yeah is it worth the money that eternal question isn't it, if I may, my 2 cents: the things that you use often or a lot, and for a long time and they positively affect the quality of your life, if they serve you well, or, if they put a smile on your face. These are qualities that justify the high price And in its essence represent the opposite of consumerism. For example, anybody can say they bought a new jacket, but can you say you owned a jacket for 10 years? and still love it? I've learned to prefer it that way. It's very easy to surround yourself with junk, just because well, it was on a good deal.. but then you feel just like that... Surrounded by junk... Not with things that you love.. we don't need to rush to get things, life is long, things accumulate quickly. let's get just few of them, but let it be the stuff that we love, like this backpack.. may it serve you well buddy!!!

Cutting down on a few lbs makes a difference when you have bad knees or a bad back. I know I dropped 3.5 lbs going from a 5 lb pack to a zpacks pack for a pound and a half

You dont need 2500 worth of gear to get the job done. Plenty of quality gear for cheap. Enjoying hiking or the outdoors shouldn’t cost as much as a car. 150 buck puffy, 450 dollar bag..150 dollar shoes that explode because they have lackluster durability. Unnecessary. And its crying shame this is how the industry rolls.

I think a middle ground is great. The ads of hikers in the 1970's had them hiking in Levis and those brown suede hiking boots with red laces, that were basically Anvils on your feet LOL, and they still hiked to the top of Half Dome no problem. The hikers looked cooler in that horrible gear, too. I think these Zpacks backpacks are great for people who are hiking with only 25 lbs max in their packs. I never do that.
