forgive me if i'm wrong but it seems like a lot of his songs are more singing than rapping, at least that's what i think it sounds like. A ton of hip hop artists are starting to sing in their songs (Childish Gambino, Chance, Ye, Drake, etc) but they're all labeled as hip hop artists. I mean, we all heard his album Stoney, and idk about you guys but i fucking loved it, i think there's kind of influences from all over the music world but it mostly seems heavily tied to hip hop, but if someone were to ask me i would just straight up call it alternative. Because it's not exactly hip hop, but it's also not exactly anything else, know what i mean? All in all, just let people make whatever music they want without having to oblige to us. Besides, it seems to be a pattern that artists make better music when they're making it for themselves, and not just for us. But that's just my two cents

I don't remember the last time I disliked a video, DJ Akademiks is straight toxic for this. You're missing the whole point of what he's trying to do. He's not trying to dodge the lifestyle of a rapper or exclude himself from the culture, rather, he just doesn't feel the need to put a label on his name. He doesn't want to be exclusive to one genre and I agree with him. Genres are dead and the reason I say that is because, like posty, I have a wide range of interests when it comes to music and as an aspiring artist I wouldn't want to reserve myself to one lane. He may lose followers for that but posty is a genuine dude and most importantly, makes music that he likes. The fact that he gets paid for it and people fuck with it is a bonus but you can tell he loves what he does because it was just an idea in his head at first.
