Sorry about the back injury Brandon. I'm 62, not a competitive power lifter by any means. I guess you'd call me an old school strength trainer. Anyway I herniated a disc in my back L4-L5 about 12 years ago. I've managed it pretty well. It does come back to haunt me from time to time. That being said, I'd love to see a video on what you do for back rehab, i.e. what did you do to rehab your most recent back "tweak"?
@BasementBrandon3 ай бұрын
Thanks Steve! I do deal with tweaks 1-2 times per year and have been lucky enough for them not to usually impede competition. I will try to make a video like that. I think I have one from a few years ago.

I just got my pair of TYR L1 lifters in yesterday. I train barefoot and wear barefoot shoes when i have to wear shoes. I normally wear a size 10.5-11, and i ordered size 11... I could not even fit my foot into the shoe until i undid both straps and loosened the laces all the way down. Once i got them on, they felt cramped. Would you recommend ordering the same size 11 in extra wide, or get extra wide 11.5?

TYR L1s are great. Better than the Nike Romaleos I had. Toe box being the main reason. Looking forward to the meet recap!

Agreed!
@MiniatureActionJesus3 ай бұрын
Are they similar in width to Romaleos 2 (if you have ever tried them)? So far they have been the only ones I have found to fit, but having another option would be nice!
@BasementBrandon3 ай бұрын
So out of all my squat shoes I had kept the Rom 2s and Adipowers b/c they fit the best, but once I got these I sold them. There is much more room IMO.

Love my Tyr-1s. I hope that in a v2, they address the absurdly long straps (need to be shorter) and perhaps add a few mm in height to match the Rebook Legacy Lifters.
@BasementBrandon3 ай бұрын
I haven't run into the strap issue like I had with the original Romaleos, but then again I don't tighten them down too much. I like a looser fitting shoe.
@bradwideshot84482 ай бұрын
Hi Brandon. Do you have wide feet? Or are you narrow/medium sized feet and the extra wide versions just feel better? These are true to size, too?
@BasementBrandon2 ай бұрын
I have a pretty wide foot
@psychotiik8531Ай бұрын
Did you go true to size on the extra wide pair? I'm thinking of getting a pair, but some reviews online are saying to go half a size up (for the regular, non-extra wide Tyr lifter shoe)
@BasementBrandonАй бұрын
I have the same size in both.
@psychotiik8531Ай бұрын
@BasementBrandon Thanks for the reply! Was it too snug for you, or did it fit perfectly?
@BasementBrandonАй бұрын
@@psychotiik8531 so I'm a 12.5 or 13 depending on the shoe. I don't believe they offer 12.5 so I got 13s in both and they fit fine. Personally I'd go extra wide to get the most room in the toe box regardless.

Looking for the perfect functional trainer that will fit in a 10’x12’ area with 96” of height space. Trying to see more options as Rogues Monster RM-6 is my first choice. My 18 year old son wants to focus on the big 3 lifts but at 45 I would like some cable action involved as well. How can I get a full cage with all the bells and whistles without breaking the bank?
@BasementBrandon3 ай бұрын
Depends on where you want the trade off to be. Most cases you forfeit build quality/functionality for a lower cost. I haven't played around too much with the rack options since I have a dedicated Prime unit and the Voltra add ons to my current rack. If you haven't watched Gluck's Gym I'd start there. He owns the REP stuff now and has the Rogue on order.
