I agree on the squatting alone aspect, but kudos to them for making an actual budget friendly option that sits above others in a similar price point from a quality standpoint.

Could be a good option as a dedicated bench most of the time with the option to practice on a combo close to a meet! If only it came in more color options!
@BasementBrandon7 ай бұрын

@twistedbarbell39507 ай бұрын
Definitely a decent option for anyone desiring a combo rack. It was on my short list when considering a dedicated bench station, but the footprint was too large for my space, not to mention the space behind that is required to operate the lever arms. Great review as always!
@BasementBrandon7 ай бұрын
All good points. I think for a single user you can get away without using the levers as when adjusting from squat to bench you have to move the bar anyways so you could unload it and just manually adjust the uprights.

Thanks for this review. Can you speak to what went into decision to leave your basement unfinished? Pure finances? Didn't think it too important? Easy enough to decorate with banners, etc.?
@BasementBrandon7 ай бұрын
Mostly just b/c I didn't see a reason to. Doesn't add any functionality really. Finishing it could be done, but would also limit the overall size and overhead space some.

100%, while $1300 is a good deal for a combo, you could get a more versatile (and safer) rack for half that.

Thank you for this video brother. I got the Titan combo back when they had just upgraded it and put it on sale for $600 and I think it was worth. Not as beefy but similar enough to the TSS racks used locally so it FEELS just about the same. Still don’t like squatting heavy in it though

Squatting outside of my rack always freaks me out. Even on weights I know I can do for reps and sets still worries me. Even with my safety arms to catch me. Probably explains why my comp squat was always significantly less than my gym lifts.

Man that seems like a deal. 1/2 price and probably 80/90% of the quality of the big boys. Probably not perfect for a usual small gym for the reasons you mention but seems like a fantastic way for a smaller regional federation to get some equipment to put on meets without destroying the meet fees. (and for a powerlifting gym to get you experience on lifting in a platform for meets/adding to their equipment). Was thinking I"m sure you have barbells that cost more than that. :-)

Please can you do a 2024 best power bar review soon. Primarily, so I can slaughter the Rogue Ohio Power Bar not fitting the Rogue power rack! In my monster, it’s impossible to bench or squat with it (the very things it’s designed to do) without clattering the plates into the upright if you have a millimetre of lateral unsteadiness! 😡
@bmstylee7 ай бұрын
What bar are you using? I have the 20 kg IPF spec and no issues bumping plates. I'm using comp KGs for plates. Generally the folks who have issues with my Ohio Power Bar don't necessarily have the tightest unrack or walkout.
@BasementBrandon7 ай бұрын
Do you have athe 20kg version as mentioned? Using thin comp collars and the Rogue rack at 49" is def tough. Going with bigger collars or a longer bar can also bring in additional problems. An easy fix would be just throw a pair of change plates (5s or 10s) on the bar first. This will buy you some extra space and not require you to buy a new bar.
@danredmond55897 ай бұрын
@@BasementBrandon Yeh, 20kg stainless. It’s disgraceful really, it’s a power bar. 2 of the 3 things it’s primarily designed to do, and it fails miserably within the manufacturers very own rack! I challenge anyone to do a hard set of bench, OHP or squats in a monster lite, with my version of the Ohio PB and not clatter the plates into the uprights, causing a total shit show during the lift or racking/unracking. I’m lucky enough to have an Eleiko comp, Texas PB and a Texas Squat bar, so I don’t use the Rogue Ohio Pb in the rack. But I’d like to, as I prefer 29mm for benching and like to keep the bare steel Eleiko insulated throughout winter. I was fitting collars on first, then loading the plates, but as I say, that’s ridiculous. Shame, as it’s a great bar otherwise.
@danredmond55897 ай бұрын

When I started messing around with weights again, about 3 decades after high school, I wanted something like this, figuring about 500 bucks. I soon found myself on Rogue's website staring at $2500, wondering whatever happened to my $100 Joe Weider setup that included hamstring curls. 10-grand later, I'm achieving probably the same results, but safer, and cooler, still don't have a combo rack, or leg machine, and now have no space in the garage for automobiles. Maybe a basement would help?
