To be fair, the cover up was instigated before she took over. However, instead of engaging with the investigation team, and talking to victims to ascertain if there was any truth to the claims that Horizon and Fujitsu had not only botched the software, but were continually interfering with the audits from branches, she decided to continue the policy of burying truth, discrediting witnesses, discrediting their own audit team, and lying to Ministers. She was consistent, I'll give her credit for that. Not ONCE throughout this hearing has she said that she considered what the effect that, even hypothetically, a dishonest denial of culpability would have on the lives of victims. When you're a CEO, you're paid to take decisions and responsibility. She made a conscious decision to blame innocent people, but refuses to this day to admit any responsibility.

Don't forget that this is an inquiry hearing and not a trial. The barrister has already said that there matters he can't question her or the others on because of parliamentary privilege, in other words he's got a hand tied behind his back. He's being extremely cautious and polite, because he has no other option. What is absolutely clear is the disdain that these individuals have for the postmasters. They deliberately brushed under the carpet the obvious operating problems with Horizon, they did everything they could to stifle any possible adverse legal procedures and were perfectly willing to incriminate the innocent. The 'controllers' they sent out to threaten the postmasters were totally incompetent, but that was part of the plan. Some of these 'executives' have even tried brazenly posturing before this KC, which gives some idea of how disgusting they are. Meanwhile Vennels still has a top job, but she belongs to the management class who think they're untouchable. Their 'legal PR team' must be doing overtime and getting handsomely paid for it. Ordinary people's lives and those of their families were ruined, some were driven to suicide, some were wrongfully imprisoned, but after all they were only ordinary people, weren't they ?

When she says “The Post Office thinks” who on earth is she referring to? The CEO takes responsibility and makes the call, but her sole objective in this Hearing is to deflect all blame and imply others have given her incomplete or the wrong advice.

She is fully aware that nowadays, "Normal Legal Routes" mean that they (POL) would never be held to account for their actions. Never ever. No Sub-Postmasters would ever manage to get the disclosures necessary to overturn malicious prosecutions and get their wrongful prosecutions addressed. That is the whole point of the protections of "Legal Privilege" afforded to POL. Look how long, and how difficult it has been to get this matter this far, with thousands of wrongful prosecutions and (criminal) extortions of monies from the Sub-Postmasters.

It's disgraceful, before each post office representative answers the questions they look at the laptop screen in front of them and the Post Office Barrister who is listening in provides them with the answer they should give. It's like going into an exam at School with all the answers on a notepad. How on earth is this legal, it's to make sure the Post Office doesn't get sued.

I was watching her live yesterday and I couldn't believe it when she said she was in her job for five years and didn't know the post office has its own investigation team of a hundred staff and was doing there own prosecutions and she claims she had no idea of this
