It was at 5:59 the thought rely settled in, how in the hell did anyone survive the beach landings at normandy. I understand in real life there were a hell of a lot more Americans, french/Canadian and English forces landing that day. But when you have about 20 men packed together on a small plywood and pot mettle boat with 25 rounds a second coming out of an MG that one round has the capability of going through 5 men it really just drops your jaw and makes you wonder how in the hell.

They kind of went overboard with them in game. In reality they were a bit more spread out and in lines, not just randomly placed. The Germans issued out whatever they had, and many of the units in Normandy were 2nd line units. There are photos of Maxim 08 guns set up on the beaches, for example.

Many of the Wehrmacht soldiers killed on D-Day were forced conscripts from places that Germany had occupied, i.e. Czechoslovakia.
