It is a complete togetherness that will stand the tests and difficulties that life throws at you. There is a look between you that I recognise as the thing. This reminded me so much of mine and my husband's wedding. We eloped to Antigua just the two of us, he helped me with my dress on our wedding day, we walked to the ceremony together and spent the entire day with each other. It felt so much more intimate and more us. I had a little wobble after I had my hair and makeup done but a glass of Champagne (and a tot of vodka in it) helped loads x

Love that you did your day exactly as you wanted. Me and my husband were going to elope as we both hate being the centre of attention, and just wanted to get to the 'being married' bit. But at the last minute he changed his mind (only child so he felt sad for his mum missing out). So we had the smallest wedding possible - 4 parents and 3 siblings - and it was magical. In the past 5 years we've lost 3 of our parents, so we treasure the memories and photographs of that wonderful day. You don't have to have a huge, expensive day for it to be perfect ❤

You guys looked amazing, and the day (and beyond) looked/sounds perfect. We're 5 years in, and I still love hearing 'wife' and saying 'husband'! We were pretty non-traditional, too. There was no proposal (I'm autistic and hate surprises/not knowing what's going on etc), we just decided together that we wanted to get married. We bought semi-matching engagement rings, and both wore them. Then we got married at the registry office on Halloween. Just us and my parents as witnesses. We got ready at home together, I wore a black dress and Nightmare Before Christmas Vans, he wore black jeans and a linen shirt. I drove us there and we got lucky rain. Then we went away for the night. Had food at Hard Rock and a drink in a local pub. I cried the whole way through and was just happy when it was over haha. If we could have just signed the paper instead of having to say vows, I would have! Our original Honeymoon got cancelled due to CvD so we eventually got our Honeymoon last October at DLP. To us, marriage is, as Benji said, between two people. We don't really have any friends or family, so we didn't need or want a party, and I hate being the centre of attention, so I couldn't think of anything worse than a traditional big wedding! Oh, and of course, Congratulations again. It's obvious how perfectly suited you guys are and I wish you all the happiness in the world!

We eloped but it didn’t work out that well and we got a lot of kick back from my husband’s family. I look back with some sadness which is a shame, though I wouldn’t have wanted a traditional wedding at all. I’m so glad it worked out so beautifully for you. You both looked amazing! Such a special day. You both deserve the very best. ❤ I think it’s beautiful and so personal the way you did your wedding: you both love travel, and even the fact that the ship was registered in Bermuda ties in even more places! I LOVE the way you did your union! As someone who was married in Vegas (I know cheesy lol) but it was us with a few witnesses and it was perfect! It was just for us and we just celebrated 20 years!! As a wedding registrar myself, I and all my colleagues would probably agree that the small intimate ceremonies are our favourites. The words mean so much more when there isn’t a distraction of ‘what’s next’ and we find these are the most emotional ceremonies, especially a lot of the time for the grooms! I loved this Brogan and you are so right. Do what you want to do. When Shane and I got married we had 20 people to watch us tie the knot and then they all joined us in a lovely pub near our home in London (have moved north). We had canapés and Prosecco and then a 3 course meal. It was a great day. You are right regarding the vows. So emotional. My heart was jumping out my chest and when he started crying I did too. Just a note to couples who are planning their big day, please make sure you put aside some time during the day for each other; to sit quietly and just have some time for each other as the day goes by sooo quickly.

We had been living together for nearly fourteen years and shortly after we went into covid lockdown, in March of 2020 we decided to write a ceremony to handfast ourselves. Nothing was done legally, but we still call ourselves husband and wife and feel married. We may have a legal ceremony at some point, but we haven't felt the need for one yet. Our ways of incorporating family members was to each wear nearly associated with them. Thank you for sharing your wedding details! Thank you for this Q&A ❤️ Watching your whole journey from engagement to wedding has been really refreshing and engaging and it's made me realise just how much control both me and my gf can have over our future wedding one day (we're not engaged but have discussed us being married). We're a lesbian couple anyway so our wedding will never be traditional but there's also a lot of things we don't agree with either in traditional weddings nor do we have loads of friends so seeing you and Benji do it all for yourselves is really eye opening and inspiring 🥰 Because I agree, a marriage is about you two not about anyone else and doing the wedding with exactly what you want is such a brilliant way to set that foundation for the start of your marriage and life together 🎉

O this brought back happy memories. Our day was very long with lots of driving. But we arent a traditional couple so it was still lots of fun. Very true the husband and wife thing still throws me. We also had a party a few days after the wedding day so glad did it that way and saved a fortune. Finally having our honeymoon on Norwegian fjords on iona next year. Fab video. X
