A positive attitude does make all the difference. Like all smiles on delivery, "Have a great day!" or "That smells *amazing*! I hope you enjoy it!", when you have to text or call a customer "Hi! This is [NAME], your Postmate...". I've gotten 50% tips when I do that. Never when I was in a rush and forgot to.

Great video Nate! I have worked for PM for a week and I made $100 Saturday. I was out from 12pm-9pm. The main reasons I like it? 1. No boss(es) to answer to. 2. Setting my own hours. 3. I enjoy driving around in my city (OKC, Okla) 4. The flexibility to change my scheduling. 5. Getting paid direct deposit frequently. 6. I enjoy meeting new people. *To be successful at PM you have to have a positive attitude about it, as you also said. Sure, some days will suck, but the positives far outway the negatives for me so far. I'm excited to learn more about this job and the new experiences to come!

Jamison Hammonds what city are you in? I do like Pm bonuses and I wonder if he was talking about $100 for 9 hours before tips. Ever since GH changed their platform requiring blocks to get offers, drivers are losing money that can’t get blocks or enough blocks. I think it was a poor decision on their part but sounds like they needed to put out less money.

Good tip about changing the delivery options to not go far for orders. I need to try that on my next trip! I did my first day $80 in only 5 hours. Yes and mustangs don’t get great gas Mileage. I’ll be in my mustang doing it and I only average about 19 miles per gallon if I’m driving like a civilized being 😂😂😂

Also id suggest everyone read this book “how to win friends and influence people” it help me understand underlying themes of communication that allowed me to milk for more tips (giving value asking nothing in return, smiling and giving off good energy, ask questions so the customers invest a little bit of their energy talking, making ur face bit more memorable).

I am moving back to the L.A. area and I ride a TGB Express scooter (made for food delivery--google it). I ride for a local yokel company in Yuma, AZ, and make so-so money here. The scooter holds 150 liters of 'stuff' (it holds more than it looks), so I am wondering if it would be worth it to actually use my scooter? What parts of L.A. would be good to work? I was in Tarzana over Thanksgiving, and the part my friend lived in, parking was IMPOSSIBLE. I could literally see the advantage of a scooter there. I am moving for my 'day job' (teacher) so with the minimal amount of money I can make, I would like to maximize my extra pay.

Engaging video and provocative presentation. You obviously enjoy what you do. Good coverage of pros and cons. I agree that I would not think of PM delivery as full time gig because no benefits such as paid sick time, paid vacation, medical, 401k, unemployment, etc. $16.00 hour will sound decent in certain parts of the country but you still have to deduct for wear and tear on the car, cost of gas especially non-hybrid vehicle, insurance and the payment of taxes. I think it wise for these videos to mention the proper payment of taxes. Whatever money is made, wise to put aside 10% for savings and 15% upfront for taxes. Be careful also because some insurance companies individual policies do not allow for the use of a personal vehicle for commercial purposes.

It’s actually true you can make 100 at least a day. As long as you start with a full tank of gas your good. It’s always nice being customer service driven. I Made 50 in 4 hours. First day postmates. Unfortunately no tips from the younger bucks . But I do Uber eats also more tips on that app. Keep grinding.

im convinced that in 2018 --1-2 years after this video was posted......postmates has algorithms that have "best tippers" within their data and they dole those out evenly to postmates to keep everyone happy and even the playing field. I have never gotten more than one "big order" a day, but consistently have one "big order"

I wouldn't do postmates as a full time job, but on the weekends/fridays in a big city, there are tons of orders where 100-200$ is very feasible also tips make this goal much easier i've had a 15 dollar tip for a pizza delivery So alot of this is kinda RNG Once you have explored a bunch of places around your city, you will also have a feel of where the real hotspots are and not by looking at just the map on your app

What city are you in? I think the consistency is a problem for all app gigs. I've been doing Doordash for about 3 days, but have only worked two full days. The first night I did like one run just to see how it was. It was awful, lol..Saturday though was pretty good. Now yesterday, definitely not a great day. I'm still trying out the different zones. Still learning. I'm in the process of signing up for Postmates, but I keep seeing (videos and Facebook) people say how cheap Postmates is so it's scaring me.

I deliver on the side on my TGB Express scooter (Google it) and use this bag www.webstaurantstore.com/servit-soft-sided-heavy-duty-insulated-sandwich-take-out-delivery-bag-red-nylon-15-x-12-x-12-holds-sandwiches-and-containers-and-4-2-liter-bottles/424SB1512RD.html It works great, but if you Google my scooter, the large box easily holds food AND drinks (see the side pouches--I get fountain sodas from the local Circle K convenience stores and they offer plastic drink holders which are waterproof, and I put the drinks in the plastic bags, in the side pouch and have a whole bunch of extra plastic bags to hold my drinks in place). The food stays warm and the drinks stay put! You will need to either find a large delivery box for a bike, or figure out how to hold the bag directly on a bike rack.
