The truth is, 75% of people will tip just because they usually do, assuming that you didn't mess up their order and you were polite. The other 25% are people who you have to make an impression on before they tip
Wow gets me more to understand how to stand out when I deliver. Basically I'm just courteous and prompt. If I get tip great otherwise at least I was out there giving my self opportunity.

Great video. I'm about to head out for my first delivery ever. I used to deliver pizza and boy you're right about the napkins and silverware. Also, for pizza orders, get some little Tabasco Sauce bottles. Even if you hafta but some. Those lil guys generated A LOT of tips. Also, get some paper plates. Especially for hotel/motel orders. I'm in Vegas so I'm expecting a lotta those. Oh yea. Smokers, do not smoke while delivering. Non smokers can smell it a mile away. If you absolutely must, roll all your Windows down. But try not to, especially with their food in your car

Few customers had gave me low rating because possibly the delivery took too long which resulted of my average rate of 4.5 (which is below 4.6 rating requirement). I already got "low rating warning" email, but then I dispute my rating to Postmates. I told them my reason why the customer wasn't satisfied and it was the restaurant fault for taking too long for the order, so they bump my average rating to 4.6 (which is better than 4.5). I did my best to satisfied the customer by using the Postmates bag (all the time), greet them with smile, and telling them in the end "enjoy your meal." After watching this video, now I realized my possible mistakes. 1. Don't text the customer often. I always text message the customer when I arrived to their complex apartment or house, but I should call them instead (because either way they don't respond my text message). 2. I should of contacted the customer about the long wait in the restaurant. If I had contacted the customer about the waiting time for their order, they would of understand why the delivery was taking too long. As of now, I will try my best to increase my average rating at least 4.8 or higher because I do not want to get another email about my rating again. BTW I do Postmates Fleet in Los Angeles which it's very busy and traffic is horrible.

I’ve done over 200 deliveries between DD and PM ... and hardly anyone wants to hear you added napkins or mints or anything u have to say and mostly want to grab the bag and shut the door without saying a word. Every once in a while they are glad to listen and may get chatty which I enjoy, actually. I seem to do best if all I say is thanks for the biz, I appreciate the opportunity, enjoy... and NO ONE EVER tipped me extra after the delivery except one time on a Walmart pick up that took an hour and a half on DD... PM customers tip way better and most live in houses while DD customers mostly live in impossible apartments ... PM customers have been so much more appreciative in my experience, but still are not impressed w napkins and forks ... not sure if they care about the thermal bag usage, but I do that too, as some probably do care. I notice a lot of other couriers don’t use the bags ... assuming it takes too much time... one other note, since the dine in closures, more customers just want u to leave Order at door ... which speeds things up, but then u don’t get the opp to ‘charm’ them or show how engaged you are and all that... I realize this is several years old... but I am just not so sure customers are as impressed w napkins and utensils as they once were... but in the end it’s good to make sure those are in there... also since the dine in shut downs, restaurants seem to be more aware to just do that rather than have us rummage through the bag to see what’s missing

Postmates customers NEVER tip me ever. I literally give the best possible service and they never ever tip. I’ve only gotten maybe 3 tips. And I’m in a major “rich people”’area. You’d think it would be the opposite!
@tjaspire4 жыл бұрын
RIGHT! I thought that too. Rich people are the stingiest. I drove like 15 miles to deliver to the Pacific Palisades, an order that no one would take, driving up though these steep, old @$$ hills with narrow roads, and still no tip. If you live in a virtually inaccessible area, tipping should be mandatory! I will not be making that mistake again. Cheapskates!

would be great IF POSTMATES ACTUALLY SHOWED YOU WHAT RESTRAUNT ETC THE DELIVERY IS BEFORE YOU ACCEPT IT. currently it just say delivery acept in *insert time here*. doesnt tell me the restraunt, miles or any info until i accept it. so tip #1 is pretty useless.

@@Alx77us now what good will a gun do!!?? lol. No, I took the advice from Thrifty Squad to #1, leave a quick introduction when you accept the order. (but that only works if they haven't already paid for the order. You can't contact them when they do). #2, after drop off, I just txt that it was a pleasure to serve them and ask them to rate their experience. As Thrifty pointed out, that takes them to the tipping screen and more than likely they will leave something. It has worked for me--even with the few orders I actually get.

Well this is only as far as tips is concerned. What about tips for maintaining a complete overall 5 star rating. I do about 85 to 90 percent of the things you mentioned in this video and I keep receiving a low rates warning.
@AustenTkel7 жыл бұрын
Kyd Kaide, yea I completely understand. I've actually had that issue before. The thing that sucks is that sometimes people do it just to get free food, or discounts. One time the restaurant messed up on the food, and I got a bad rating when it wasn't my fault. That's what usually gets me bad reviews. However, you could try create a small conversation when giving them their food. Try and end the conversation with a compliment or something happy? It could potentially help if they become unhappy lol

Donnie Reynolds the prepaid card is for businesses that don’t take online orders directly. So the customer pays Postmates, and the money for the order is loaded to the card. That’s all taken care of “behind the scenes”, you never use your own money to load the card or pay for orders.

Like, you know there is no parking where you live, why don't you help me out and come out and meet me?! Next time I see an order like that, their food is getting left!
