great reaction saeed... haley reinhart really is jessica rabbit here... it's crazy how she completely embodies the music and new orleans "dirge" vintage time period so well in this sort of symbiotic relationship that is so authentic and rare. the band and arrangement are excellent but she really brings it to life. in addition to her unique stunning vocals, she even becomes another instrument towards the end with the relentless scatting. when i briefly met her last spring, i was surprised how petite and soft spoken she is in person with how big a presence she puts on stage... truly amazing

I was in orchestra when I was young, in school & I heard it called a contrabass, a double bass & an upright bass. Probably "upright bass" is the 1 I've heard the most.

Generally it is called a double bass in the UK, which can be confusing, as Americans seem to use the term double bass for a drum set with two bass drums (e.g. Nightwish and Unleash The Archers). Contra bass sounds like a sensible name for it.

Speaking of the Brit Awards, the band Gabriels was nominated for International Group of the Year. Its frontman is Jacob Lusk. He appeared on American Idol the same season as Haley. They both made the top five.
