Remaking Doctor Who RPG in D&D 5e has to be the worst adaptation to that system, I can't think of anything in 5e that fits with Doctor Who. That said, possibly it will prove so ill fitting and unpopular that it halts this obsession with basing games and settings around 5e. I'm not putting money on it though.

Never underestimate consumer-drone npcs. Consider how they're easily willing to simp for corporations, like abused partners in an awful relationship.

I ran FASA, Virgin, and a bit of Cubicle 7 Doctor Who and system matters a lot. I ran supers in the Marvel Universe using Marvel Superheroes, Champions 3E, DC Heroes,and DC Universe and the difference was huge. Same GM, same universe, same players, huge difference.

Thanks for the updates as always. Tenkar has had his many irritating moments, but goddammit people! Also, WotC D20 System continues to be stagnant glut... Any game that jumps on board isn't about making something good, it's just easy cash.

Maybe review the different Doctor Who or other licensed universe systems to show how system matters. Same, GM, same players, same world, big difference.

The original Cubicle 7 Adventures in Time And Space is tailor made for Doctor Who - great system. Daleks definitely do kill you in one shot in that system. As much as I love 5e I agree it's not suited for anything except high fantasy. Cubicle 7 did release a 5e compatible Middle Earth RPG and it was actually good. But Middle Earth is a fantasy setting so it wasn't too far from the intention of the 5e ruleset.

Hypocrisy is the norm, Jim. It's one thing to be disappointed, but bewildered? Come now.

Dungeons and Dragons is terrible for anything that isn't swashbuckling, fantasy action. It's meant to abstractly simulated two characters clashing swords until one of them sinks home the killing blow and anything else has to be appended on the end, like falling damage. The moment you introduce something extremely lethal with no good countermeasure like, say, modern firearms the damage scaling completely breaks down. Oh and Jim? I have to ask, what was that song that played over the end credits because I need that jam in my life.

The D20 system killed a few of my games I converted them to. I have seen an excited new player's excitement convert to boredom from taking WAY TOO long to make a character in the D20 3E system and they NEVER try to play again. System does matter and it can kill a game. I don't see the 5EOGL working very well the Doctor Who but who knows? The old Time Lords system was my favorite and it's still floating around the internet. BUT on the same token, the 5E system does make characters very quickly. 5E does support old school play, you just have to play it that way. Fatigue levels and the question I always ask, "who says you can take a short rest when you just made a bunch of racket and got the attention of every fell thing in the darkness?"

5th does everything through the lens of mediocre compromise. I'd rather just play a clean OSR system instead.

FYI, nu-TSR / Justin LaNasa denies responsibility for Tenkar's doxxing. Personally, I don't want want to get involved. Their feud has nothing to do with me. I'm against doxxing for what it's worth. I just want to game and live my life without mandates, lockdowns, and face diapers!

LaNasa talks big and pays off little, all in the name of nostalgic false promises, so whose to say? Also, miss me with that end vax/virus bit. That's irrelevant beyond virtue signaling.

Is there ANY evidence to blame either nu-TSR/Wonderfilled/LaNasa/etc for the doxxing?
@docnecrotic2 жыл бұрын
@@geekybugle4241 It's likely that it's someone only loosely tied to all of them AT MOST, but I wouldn't call any of them trustworthy regardless. Many involved, especially LaNasa, are very shady. It's always possible someone wants to further damage their already shaky reputation though.

Never knew of the orginal doctor who table top. But World of Darkness seems like the better system then DnD.

There is nothing wrong with the AITS system which itself is just a rationalisation of a fan supplement for Time Lord written by Paul Cornell. 2nd Ed AITS even more so because it burns all the clunk from first ed. That said I think dumping the regeneration table was a mistake especially seing as accidental gender change during regeneration is now solid canon.

Unfortunately, the hobby is full of pure crap. Also this hobby if full of deluded ignorant fools. Best thing to do is ignore the trash forums, websites, companies and video's and just play what is good. Like 0D&D and AD&D or any other old school RPG.
