Perioperative nursing refers to the nurses that work in the operating room. These nurses follow perioperative guidelines by AORN. Preop, and recovery room nurses, Phase I and II are referred to as perianesthesia nurses and follow the ASPAN guidelines.

Peri pre intra post op phases. PACU once anathesia wears off pt can then be transferred. Nursing interventions airway patency, surg site fluid electrolytes LOC. Must be freeof complications before leaving PACU. PACU near operating rooms. Each space has vs equipment airway management and suction. No minimum stay, ambulatory pts should recover in other areas than nonambulatory. Immediate post anasthesia one on one care asses include muscle strengrh. PACU to ICU or hospital room. OR to fast track home or facility. 23 hr in hospital observation unit. ABC airway breathing circulqtion. Maintain ventilation, circulation, preventing shock, managin pain. Neuro based on perrla and loc response strength hand grips, able to move. AVP or glascow coma scale. AVP alert voices pain. Glascow 3 deep coma or death 15 fully awake. ABGs may be part. Airway obstruction common, tongue or spasms of trachea, etc. Hypercapnia etc. Suction jaw thrust manuver, insertion of nasal or oral airway. Tracheostomy may be needed if unsuccessful. Hypoxemia risk. 6 minute mark of 2nd video

There was no slide for the Fluid Interventions after the Hyperthermia. She just sits there and talks but in the meantime I'm awaiting a slide with the stepsto read it. Please review this. Thanks!
