My mother in law and sister in law both made me a bunch of freezer meals *while* I was in the hospital and surprised me with them already in my freezer. It was such a blessing cause my postpartum recovery was rough and I couldn't really walk for two weeks, let alone cook. Good for you having the foresight to prepare!

I'd love more videos about recipes like this in the future. I love meal prep, freezer meals, and crockpot meals. I find I eat healthier when it is prepped in advance than me having to make a new meal every night.

The ketcap manis does actually translate to sweet soy sauce, so you did a great job explaining the flavours of those Indonesian ingredients!! A lot of those dishes looked delicious!

If you add 2-3 spoonfuls of the liquid from your previous kimchi batch, it will begin fermenting faster. I read this trick in a magazine and I do it when I make sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables.

good tip! it helps by introducing the already present bacteria from the pickling liquid to the new batch. This is the same principle behind my mom putting a spoon of old yogurt into a new batch of milk to make Indian dahi :)

Great idea! When you get the chance, please let us know how your meals turned out. I had not heard about meals that could be prepped, frozen, and then cooked in the crock pot. VERY good idea! The energy balls look yummy. Hope you, Robert, and your new son are all doing well.

Lucy I really love your wallpaper and the renovations to your kitchen are so quaint. Love the "food prep diary" videos look forward to more of these. By the way my husband and I thank you for the game suggestions in a past video. We found Hipster because of you and its been so much fun playing it! I know its not easy and a lot of work so I'm wishing you a gentle and sweet postpartum. Rest well.

have you tried using a sweet fruit like apple or pear instead of the sugar in the kimchi? and when I lived in Korea it was common to use this like cooked down slurry/paste of sweet gluttonous rice flour and water in the kimchi, do any of the vegan kimchi recipes you come across say to do that?, also, liquid in the kimchi initially isn't ideal, it's fine to have some, and you definitely want some for later because you need kimchi juice for kimchijeon/pancakes

Yes! The recipe I normally use uses apple and the cooked paste :) This was a very quick & lazy version, haha!

Dump Bags, genius! I'm borrowing this idea. That was a lot of work, the only thing you didn't do was cook it! Time for you to sit down with a bowl of ice cream. 😋

The ketjap manis doesn’t seem to have a different English name as far as I could tell on Google. It was usually translated as sweet soy sauce. Described as having lots of palm sugar and spices added to soy sauce which results in a thick syrup consistency. How cool that you’ve shown me a new condiment that I’ve never heard of!!

Just wanted to comment on the possibility- which is totally normal and real, that when I mother breastfeeds a baby, she cannot eat certain things that irritate his little stomach since it gets passed through her milk, however it is usually the most obvious things, such as chili, peppers, onions, etc.
@elfenscheisse5 ай бұрын
Absolutely, and i am glad i didn't have to write this comment! For breastfeeding, it is wiser to stick to extra stomach-friendly meals, even if oneself doesn't have a sensitive stomach because otherwise the milk will cause colics and flatulence in the baby (I remember my mother and grandmother years ago being upset by someone in my father's family who ate fat meat and bean soup during breastfeeding period. this why i had this in mind at once.)

Lucy, I am so proud of you and your hard work preparing all of this food. I just know that you are pooped from such a long day of prepping. If I might suggest, get your self a box or 2 of inexpensive plastic gloves. Place a box in the kitchen and perhaps in the changing room. They come in so handy whilst cooking and changing the baby and for so many other things. You are such a delight. 🥰

That kimchi looks mouthwatering! What is the thing you used as weight? Also, when you said you were preparing 5 meals in a day plus making dinner, I thought it was kinda optimistic 😂 All of the meals look pretty good, to be honest! 🤤 I hope they are giving you all the energy you probably need right now. < Thank you for the inspiration. All the best!

….. was that sandwich supposed to be like a knock off bahn mi? Low-key horrified lol But I’ll give some grace because I definitely craved strange foods while pregnant ha ha. The meal prepping looks awesome! I did the same type of things while I was pregnant and I definitely appreciate it having my freezer stocked
@suzy93235 ай бұрын
I don't think it was a knock off bahn mi, I think she said gado gado, which is an Indonesian dish with a peanutsauce and lots of veggies 😊 So it's a sandwhich version of that dish, or.. toast version I guess 😂
