I definitely try to only allow myself to have one restock/backup of products at a time just to save on space in my small apartment with little bathroom storage. I have a rule of if I haven’t used it in a year I should get rid of it, like I realized I’m just not a girl who wears lip products except chapstick so I finally let go of the last remaining lipstick I had.

I want to be super girly with makeup but I don't have the energy. I keep it basic with brows, mascara, and tinted Balm. Occasionally eyeliner, eyeshadow and tinted moisturizer.

I recently did a de-clutter of my books and candles/incense. I feel so much lighter now throwing out the old ones and only having my newest candles to burn. This video made me feel nostalgic, I've been following your journey now for so long and remember finding you with your first 'sock bun' tutorial l and loved all your historical makeup and hair. Did you store your perfume in the bathroom before? The temperature changes and humidity can cause perfumes to expire faster. It might help to find a different place for them.

I recently had a declutter of my own. I've gotten rid of so many scented products because I've become allergic to scents. I had to recreate my routine and use the most basic products. I kept my foreo devices, my IPL, and my flat iron. I had so many mascaras and I only use one lol. Good for you!

Even though I myself am a maximalist and cannot find any joy in minimalism and excessive decluttering, even I, of course, have to declutter from time to time and concerning make up, I cannot stop mentioning how important decluttering of old make -up is!! I used to declutter some years ago getting rid of all the makeup which purchase of the oldest products went back to the early 2000s and even late 90ies. I then bought myself some palettes that I try using up as much as possible and with some palettes I have in stock because they were good bargains, I guess I have makeup for the rest of my life (not basic products you have to rebuy all the time)!! Of course the temptation to buy is not out of this world but I try to resist as good as I can xD …

You may regret putting the nail polish next to the lipstick - the smell travels. I always keep polish either with foot stuff or in a tightly sealed box of it's own.

I have definitely been guilty of keeping what is now "vintage" makeup from the late 90s early 00s. I have a 90s caboodle I call the The Caboodle of Shame that they all fit in. I have a vanity and drawer under it, and that's all my makeup. It's more than I use but it's not terrible. I haven't bought new things but skincare and lip products in a year.

I use the salt spray for my bangs to give them some grit when they are freshly washed! Just an idea for you to use yours up

Good job! Little tip though: Never keep your perfume ”out” in light or worse sunlight! Perfume is best stored dark, cool and dry to keep fresh the longest. 🥳🙏✨ Also be very careful with old, expired eye makeup of any type, as you don’t want to give yourself an eye infection! ☺️

Loved this video, so motivating! I have the Blueland multipurpose spray and while I love the cleaner, the spray nozzle on the bottle doesn’t work very well. I even had them send a replacement and the 2nd one doesn’t spray well either. It constantly drips while you use it and you have to wait for the spray trigger to ‘reset’ in between sprays. Hopefully you don’t have that issue!

What kind of fragrances do you like? I would recommend Jo malone. Get one in the clear bottles for day, one in the dark bottles for night.

To be honest and like you said, makeup brushes keep forever and you can never have too many imo (I am biased though cuz I’m a makeup artist on the daily). Truthfully though, I’ve had some brushes for 10+ years that I still use and they really do last when you clean them. Also what was the colour of your wedding lipstick called? I love NARS 🤍🤍🤍

I got rid of all powder products when I kept reading cases of product recalls for asbestos contamination 😱 a lot of pharmacies have recycling collection points for old make up which makes getting rid of it easier

I never understood the makeup declutter thing. Cosmetics have an expiration date. It’s printed on every product. Those dates needs to be adhered to in order to prevent irritation and/or infection, especially with eye makeup. Mascara: 3 months, eyeshadow: 6-12 months, lipstick: 1-2 years, foundation: 6-12 months… dates will vary by a few months. Even the Mayo Clinic has an extensive article on the subject. It astounds me more people aren’t cleaning out their cosmetics drawers the way they clean out their refrigerators.

People keep their makeup for a long time because they don't get infections or irritated skin even after the expiration date. They can still work perfectly.

I recently had a big declutter and halfway through decided to put some bits on the app Olio. I was really surprised to see how quickly some people wanted to pick up my discarded items, and the sort of things people will collect! I signed up initially, 6 years ago, when no one was active in my area and it was obviously a bit of a waste of time. TLDR; put your stuff on Olio before tipping it in the bin.

This was like a tiny Marie kondo video. I go through spurts of declutter but.. it never seems to stay neat. It's definitely something I struggle with. As for makeup, I'm guilty of having ones for way too long as well (my mom didn't wear makeup and I was never educated about it.. I didn't know that make up expires untill I was in my thirties 😬) that said I just really don't wear it much(if at all) and I should just.. get rid of everything and buy new since I definitely haven't worn any since the pandemic hit...

I have two acrylic make-up storage thingies and everyhing I have fits in there. Probably some expired things there, though. I do have a problem with shower gels, though. I keep getting them gifted, at Christmas, but I never seem to get through them fast enough. My partner always uses his own brand and never wavers, so no help there. Same with perfume. I have like, five of them and I do like them, but I should really use them more.

I know we should not do this, but i only stop using my make up when it's RANCID. I have this one eyeshadow duo that has THE MOST GORGEOUS satin blue tone with these lilac hue, and i nearly cried because it's moldy; I havent used it but i also cannot let go, just because IT'S THAT PRETTY. I use the Lotties Period brand, they're Dutch but I believe they do ship across Europe. I have 8 pieces total, a couple in each thickness. How many you need depends on how long/heavy your period is and how often you do laundry, but you'll need at least two per day (one for daytime, one for nighttime). I think period panties are an absolutely brilliant concept, wish they'd been around when I was a teen! They're so comfortable and effortless to use
