Trotz Modernisierung kommt er noch recht angenehm rüber, auch wenn er vieles von seinem Ursprungszustand verloren hat.

What happened with the original inner doors? Was it a scissor gate that somebody got their fingers pinched by? You could easily stick an unbrella or a walking cane through the gate.

No, it was a set of two hinged inner doors connected to a weight-detecting floor like it was common for pre WW2 elevators in Germany. If there is no one standing on that floor, the safety circuit is closed no matter if the inner doors are open or closed. A very lightweight child was in the cab and got injured at the doors when the cab suddenly started moving with opened inner doors. The low weight of that child wasn't enough to let the floor detect it. I normally don't like folding inner doors but in this case it was an acceptable choice in my opinion.
