This posture needs lots of hamstring stretches which for me is difficult because they are so chronically tight even with stretching
@CoreconceptsSg
@CoreconceptsSg 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Carrie! We agree that the hamstrings are tight in this posture and due to the tightness of the hamstrings, stretching alone to release the tightness may be difficult and slow. The hamstrings need to be lengthened to get out of this posture - you may consider massage or facilitated stretching to lengthen the hamstrings. After which, you should train your glutes so that you can use less of your hamstrings. Hope this helps!

In my case the spine kinda locked outward once when I sat down fast on a hard surface with weights in my hands. It felt like all of the bones of my lower half of the spine sat on each other. I feel like it will never be good until it cracks back into original position. Is it possible to fix this with just exercises and correcting posture or does it need some other approach?
@CoreconceptsSg
@CoreconceptsSg 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrej! For your case with the "compressed spine" we will be able to help with manual therapy and joint mobilisation to help create space in your spine to reduce the pressure. After the pressure is reduced, we will conduct an assessment to determine the cause of this (eg: weak muscles, muscle tightness etc) and help you accordingly.

Won't strengthening your glutes rotate your pelvis farther back? Especially the gluteus maximus? Shouldn't we be strengthening our quads, abs, or hip flexors? What am I missing?

@@gaborkiss1425 Well maybe not completely flat. She does advocate for flatter curves in the thoracic with emphasis with an untucked pelvis. Her work is pretty fascinating, but there's lots of information out there. Almost too much. Just something else to research.

What if you have both a flatback (loss in all spinal curves) together with some swayback (hips forward, hinging in mid back and neck forward)? Hip flexors are contracted but also weak. Sometimes I get the lumbar curve back but because there's a flat thoracic spine, I go into swayback. Don't understand how to approach this. Help?

Hey, did you find a solution for this problem ? Because i have the same issues
@boost-9689
@boost-9689 11 ай бұрын
@@antekpiotrowski6633 No resolution. But I did realize my neck and CT junction is very weak and not able to support my head properly. Also weak mid to low back. There's also hypermobility. My body is now not strong enough to hold itself upright without compensatory twisting, or weird postures. Without stable curves, I cannot tolerate weight as well so I work with very light weights and low resistance exercises. And stay within my tolerance. Slow going, but what can you do? Was working on glutes, upper back and shoulders and am starting to try more neck execises. And will try to work on mid to low back and core. Have to pretty much strengthen the whole body. The body can hide compensations very well so you kinda need to do some sleuthing to figure out where the weaknesses really are. It may not be accurate to do exercises based on the posture, as your body adapts position to help keep you upright.

@@boost-9689 thanks for response, those streghtening exercises that You do are for restoring the natural spinal curves ?
@boost-9689
@boost-9689 11 ай бұрын
@@antekpiotrowski6633 Nope, just for strengthening. It may be more helpful to approach it that way - strengthen the weak areas and indirectly create more balance over time. Instead of trying to create the curves. Don't know if the curves will be regained, to be honest. But if my body becomes stronger, functional and balanced, able to hold itself upright, and I have quality of life, that's what I really want. Does that make sense? Sorry I can't provide the answers you might want. Hope you are able to figure out where you need the strengthening and the exercises that will help. Be gentle with your body.

Don’t trust an osteopath or a chiropractor to fix a bad posture. I was injured by one 10 years ago in the worst way (uk) and I am still trying to figure a way to repair the deep postural muscles he injured. Find yourself a good physio or do one to one pilates sessions with a teacher. Believe in retraining your muscles so they know what to do. Chiropractors do not strengthen or balance muscles, they only pop air out of joints (hence the cracks).
