Also, he wants to know how different is it to pot odds, and is there a different way to use this is tournaments and cash games. Interesting question Rahuul. Alec, i think your math is a bit off for pot odds. You said that equity needed = Hero's call / Pot + Villain's bet. (33% = 50 / 100 +50) Shouldn't it be equity = Hero's call / Pot + Villain's bet + Hero's call? (25% = 50 / 100 +50 +50) For example, If Villain bets $100 into a $0 dollar pot, you need to be correct 50% of the time, not 100%

$100 (in pot) + $50 (villains bet) + $50( hero's call) therefore for my $50 in a pot of $200 (total), i need 25% equity to justify calling and not 33%. can anyone clarify the math if it checks out?

so basically, when someone bets pot size, u need at least 33% equity to justify calling via pot odds and if someone bets half pot size, you need at least 25% chance to justify calling via pot odds?

Exactly. Since equity = "% of time you'll win a spot over time (assuming a certain portion of your outs are good or you're good already)", that's why "narrowing ranges" is so important, because you have different equities with the same hand on the same board vs different ranges. GL!

He already added in villains bet to the pot, dont count it. If the pot was 50, and villain bet 50, pot is 100 like he said.
