Would you mind if I tagged you in a video where I make this? I have some ideas for it, and would like to give you credit for the inspiration. What I mean is I would like to mention this video in mine and I'll give a link to your video in the description of ours.

I'm loving your tutorial videos. Loving it because you are sharing/teaching the simple & cheap way to make wines, without the complications of adding this and that, imo. Simple traditional ways is what I like. Not many I've come across on KZbin. Soon I will be making my first wine, following your videos. Thank you!

Learning something new today. Never heard of this wine and I've never tried using grains in wine making. New possibilities are always fun, thank you!

Another fabulous video. Definitely going to make this wine. I wonder though if some potatoes rather than others make for a better wine... and I wonder too, if making my own malted wheat from wheat berries might make for a more unique version. (I'd allow the berries to sprout over about three or four days and then toast the malted berries in the oven to halt the sprouting. and then crush 'em in a bag with a rolling pin. But here is my thought about the use of orange and lemon peel. The white pith behind the peel is very bitter. And as you say adding only the peel of one orange and one lemon may not be enough to make this wine unpleasantly bitter but if you zest the citrus then you only add the surface peel and that contains all the oils and flavors and none of the bitterness that is found in the pith.

I completely agree on zesting. Also i grow potatoes.....so....u can use straight away right? (I dont have to let them dry first as when you dry them for storage?) And i have wheat stored....is crushed wheat literally just wheat gone through the food processor or do i have the wrong wheat?

I find old potatoes are slightly better for wine making, they seem to have developed more sugars! But all spuds work well Crushed indeed is just that, food processer or hit with a mallet, which ever gives you most satisfaction!

I’ve made this Brandy Wine before. The recipe I used said to leave it for 3 years when bottled, ,I have to say I never managed to keep it 3 years.

Fantastic ! I'm heading over to your wine making 101 now . I'm still getting the hang of siphoning, I lose more wine that way 😄🌻

Hi Do you keep this wine in a container fitted with airlock for a year or do you ferment for a few weeks and store it for a year without airlock ?

Hi, would be possible to add fresh crushed grapes instead of raisins. Maybe you increase a bit the sugar since raisins would have more sugar than normal grapes.

Hi James, this looks fabulous! I'd love to try brewing this however, I have coeliac disease. With that in mind does the wheat impart a particular flavour? I'm wondering would oats, corn or brown rice do the job or is the wheat element non-negotiable? Thanks for the videos by the way, I love country wines and you always have the recipe that I'm looking for!

I’ve made this many times years ago, and again this year. The recipe I used contained Pearl Barley, not sure if this helps you.

Would "mashing" (as in beer mashing) the potatoes and wheat help convert some of their starches to fermentable sugars? May provide more interesting flavors to the finished product.

This wine was made last year; I would like to see the finished wine. I hope it's not consumed yet. Basically, this is a sugar wine with potato flavor; the starch in the potatoes and the wheat will no be fermented as it cannot be converted to sugar.

🤔How do they make wheat beer in Germany if it doesn't ferment? You are so wrong!
