Note 9 tips..use a ND filter, film using Filmic Pro app, try to film before 12 and after 2pm, use a Stabilizer /Gimbal, use a wide angle or anamorphic lens, settings should be - 1080 or 4k if you prefer, 24fps, 48 shutter speed..just a few tips..all of this cost money but its worth it..i don't think bokeh is worth 95k and thats what you get with a large sensor in a Red or Arri..happy shooting

I do agree that it looks pretty good but for me there’s no comparaison between the two. The ARRI just looks better even at a glance in any circumstance. The dynamic range improvements alone are enough but then with the larger sensor and shallower depth of field you can just instantly tell which is which. The Samsung also has an oversaturated/processed look to it which is not appealing (to me) because it doesn’t look natural. But for the average person it’s more then good enough and it’ll keep getting better!

The reason why the Arri looks kind of dull is because all of the light level and colors are balanced. This is so that in post you have more flexibility for the look you want, to make certain things brighter or more vibrant and vice versa. The reason why the phone looks so good is because the effects are already applied to make it more appealing instantly, but with a good editor an Alexa blows the Samsung out of the water

Honestly it's what's not on the Alexa that makes it look so much more cinematic: namely, noise reduction and sharpening. Samsung was and continues to be dumb by putting a crap ton of image sharpening and noise reduction on their photos and video.

While cheap entry level DSLRs shoot at only 1080 30p most of the time, they have (relative to smartphones) large aps-c sensors. As a result, you get lower noise, the ability to have a shallower depth of field (or wider, because you can adjust the aperture on a DSLR) and with far more dynamic range (without using special tricks like the iPhone uses, which can fall apart). Also, I agree with you on all of that stuff, I think you misread my original comment haha!

The Alexa looks phenomenal. Look at the skin tones, the organic blues and greens, the highlight roll-offs. Can't touch it. Have used it for many years. Cam phones (and the like - GoPro / Osmo) have a practical purpose in a 'limited' set of professional scenarios. That over-processed, over-saturated, crusty look is good for home movies. Not so good looking from the get-go, falls apart in post. For home/consumer use while on the go - perfectly fine.

I noticed the green filter. Probably just the colour grade he chose out of the camera. If you filmed in log , you could colour grade it to look however you wanted, which you definitely can't do with the Samsung.

The green is more similar to how that scene would actually look to your eyes. A big thing that cheap cameras and smartphones have a hard time with is greens, it's one of the hardest colours to get right. That's why almost every cinema camera "looks green" when compared to something cheap. If it were actually just a green tint on the Alexa than Canon, RED, Blackmagic, etc. cameras wouldn't also look that way.

Rohith Kumar well first of all the low light amd slow mo performance are hindered on phones, but we knew that. The arri has a much more neutral tone which is esier to edit and much more realistic. The arri can do so much more in almost every situation. Sure you can get away with shooting in good light on a phone, but this wasn't my point. I was just saying that any phone, not just the s9, can't and won't ever out perform a cinema camera

To be completely honest not only I think the S9 looks better in the first clip but the I really don't like the Arri, of course that the Arri could be graded to achieve any look

That sharpness filter on the galaxy s9 is ugly as fuck and you can still add contrast and sharpness to the Alexa. If you look you will not find more detail in the galaxy s9, the sharpness just adds brightness to one side and darkness to the other side of any pixel it thinks should be sharp.

Alexa is better ! But you have to give it to Galaxy as well for a Phone Cam it is right up there with your Expensive cam and the Galaxy fits in your Palm of your hand and in your Pocket try to do that with your Expensive cam that looks like it is 10Lb Plus . So in conclusion the Galaxy would do just fine and any Real Life situation Pic or video's . Good job on your video comparison very cool !
