"Shogun is portal fantasy without the portal" makes a lot of sense given that "getting shipwrecked" was maybe the most common catalyst for the forbears of the genre we'd eventually know as portal fantasy. The Odyssey, the Tempest, Gulliver's Travels, etc. I think we only really invented the magical/sci-fi portal as a literary device because "setting out on the open sea" stopped feeling so mysterious!

It's partiularly fun i find putting a national park on a naturtal wonder as the name of the park takes on that of the wonder name and not the city. The only other example i have found is that if a mountain is named mount fuji on the map and you make a park over it it becomes called mt fuji national park. So far not aware of any others like this...

I legit don't know if Potato is truly tweaking or if he's just trolling for clicks. No disrespect Potato because I genuinely love you as a content creator and player, but I think it's a questionable to be making such strong pronouncements on Civ 7. You are of course entitled to your impressions but your voice carries a lot weight in the community and there's already too much negativity among civ players especially when it comes to any new entry in the series. And even though you do a 180 at the end here and express enthusiasm, I think the haters, fanboys, and negative ninnies are going to use your other comments as fuel for the fire. IMHO based on everything I've seen on Civ 7 especially with the way trade networks work, I look forward to you eating your words because I think 7 will give you a ton of freedom for simming different kinds of empires.

@@Pilvenuga Even within the subjectivity of our tastes/perceptions we can at least understand why things are made a certain way and at least appreciate the reasons they were chosen even if they don't appeal to us personally. Case in point: I still go back and play all civs, but Civ V's global happiness system is something I greatly dislike, yet I still play it from time to time. I understand why Civ V was trying to redesign the fundamentals of Civ that had grown into bloated snowballing mechanics that made games difficult to balance (especially as multiplayer became a more central focus). Nevertheless, I think Potato owes himself and the community a chance to just wait and judge the game on its own merits and what it's trying to do differently rather than on the _expectations_ that it has to be on the same level of Civ 6 which is nearly impossible for a base version of a Civ game to do when Civ 6 had, what -- 6 years of post launch support? It's important to remember that launch versions of Civ have _never_ supplanted the previous version with expansions, this has been true going back to Civ II & III. It just sounds to me like Potato (depending on the sincerity of his rants) may be setting himself up for disappointment and in turn that could have a community-wide effect and it's all unnecessary as long as one manages their expectations accordingly.
