At its best, it is one of the most fun games I've ever played, and this battle is the perfect example of what this game gets right. No BS CV's, or long range HE spam. Just tactical decision making and strong pushes supported by your team.

Im so glad to see someone can appreciate a good battle just as good as I am despite of its a defeat. Most of the players would burst out like "look at the results, I did so good in this battle, after starting off outnumbered and still managed to came out on the top ..." ... etc. But instead of whining you enjoyed to play, and this is what a game should be about - I mean in general! Good to see one of the top players down in lower tiers. I have much more fun playing between tier 5 and 8. Tier 9 and 10 have became the Wizard of Oz for ships and game play right now. Very strange things happening up there right now. Anyways great video and because of your down to earth videos and overall take on WOW I listed you as one of my favorites non official sites on a WG survey I just done today. Keep up the good work.

I ran full ifhe secondary alsace, with the secondary upgrade in slot 6 expecting it to go poorly the whole time, but the game constantly rewarded me for my potato build. Then i got repu on accident from playing the ship so much, put a 10pt captain on it (because alsace was the top of the line for me) specced manual secondaries because i thought i wouldn't care for repu, then was graced with another ship that loves me despite my terrible build. It's a shame secondary builds are going to die from weegee's bad decisions next patch

For me its Accuracy+tank Tirpitz. Sure it has secondaries. Yes it has torps. But having the accuracy modules is so much fun exactly BECAUSE people dont expect it. I believe i have dev struk every t8 cruiser by now in that ship. And a fair few bbs on t8 too. Its weird. It works. Its unexpected. I like it.

@@alblup6860 that's the thing about bismark and tirpitz, they objectively have some of the best guns at t8 with by far the best armor and nobody notices because muh german. Like if you compare them to richie or monarch. richie and monarch both have 1.8 guns on 8 and 9 380ish mm guns respectively. monarch has 25 second reload, richie has 30. but they are both covered in 32 mm armor and monarch has worse firing angles than tirpitz. the bismarks have 26 second reload on 8 380mm guns with good firing angles and armor. sure the guns aren't even in the same ballpark as NC, but NC is an absolutely crazy good tech tree t8.

So true this Potato, the scourge of Carriers is so noticeable, I had 3 games with an Aoba against a tier 8 carrier in a row. It made me stop playing instantly yesterday. Returned today and had a battle with no CV, but four tier 8s and four tier 7s and had a blast because it is that sort of circumstance that makes you think and play tactically.

Fun fact, Alsace has the most secondaries per side in the game (21) and the 100mm guns can have under 2s reload. Unfortunately the pen is shite, but its a good secondary meme ship.

The problem is that we make our decisions based on cues we get from the environment, such as the enemies' or allies' positioning, and make a prediction about what is to happen in near future. Our decisions are based on those predictions often becomes a wrong ones because people around you do something unthinkable and your decision becomes a bad one.

Worst thing about CV's is their "rate of fire". In reality Des Moines was able to shoot 8 rounds per minute per barrel, close to what the game has. How many strike squads could a WWII CV send in an hour? About two 20 plane missions. So cap the rate of dispatch for CV to 50 planes per hour. That is a 5 plane squad every 6 minutes.

1:56 "our Vladicostok is AFK for now"... and then at 4:52 the DD at H7 moves withing the Vlads detection range and the detection trigger for the Vlads Bot Mod kicks in. Magically by 4:55 the Vlad is active. Love it when someone else posts a replay displaying the bot mod that WG claims they auto-detect. End of the day WOWS is a computer program, and knowing the basics of how computers run programs, it's easy to spot an If/Then trigger. Started noticing this myself around the tail end of December, and then presto, the NA sever crashed. WG gave the flimsy excuse of a power outage, but I can see a more plausible explination. The servers overloaded from the sudden traffic of a couple thousand players running this mod. WG would have seen a spike in network traffic on their end, and at first it would have looked like players giving a massive response to an event, staying logged in for many hours playing back to back matches. Then the bottleneck of server loading hits and they'd have to shut down the server and sort out what was actually happening. I'm sure that a number of players were indeed penalized during this time, as the bot mod would have been costing them money by tying up large blocks of bandwidth and preventing the expected short term logins of actual players. They shut the server down, track login times and cross reference those spans of time for number of battles and activity in battles. When they finally found the common thread, they ban all the players that match that criteria. Guess what? They never did actually detect the code of the mod. Folks are still using it and have just changed how long they allow their systems to run the mod during a day. Instead of logging in before work and letting the bot grind all day while they were elsewhere, they might only login for 4-5 hours at night and then actually play on the weekends. Too bad for any live players running the game that get stuck with 2-3 of these accounts in their MM, but for all intents and purposes the username should be sporting colons...

Today just before I got my Montana. I was in a match in my Iowa, 6v3 we were also ahead by 200 points. I pushed in to take the C cap. Looked back and seen the rest of my team on the west side turned around and ran away from the Mogador, and Roon that were alive on the enemy team on the side I was on. Everyone on my team ended up back in B-9. I died, the enemy team took all 3 caps, and 3 of my teamates died on the A-line. We lost. by 130 points lol. I got called a "genius" because I pushed too hard. It was 4v2 Pommern, Minnesota, Hizen, and me against a Roon, and a DD at 30% hp. They decided it was the perfect time to go to the Edge of the map and camp. Randoms are the worst right now.

I am 100% with you...sadly, that happens virtually one time in 100 battles...if you are lucky. Too many "unfavourable" factors have been built in by WG, that will destroy the fun for the classic boat-on-boat combat, that I loved so much about this game.

If I can only afford to get one steel ship, I'm finding it hard to look past Stalingrad/Shikishima. I do love my Alsace but I think if I went BB on the steel ships I'd prefer the Shiki. Just for something different to the Alsace/Rep/JB. I love the risk / reward of the Yamato class hulls and guns.

While I do not like CV, I don't think the game is so hopeless that you can only get good experience in no CV game, at least for T8. I play on Asia server, the server known for notorious amount of CV players and passive HE campers.95% of games have at least 1 cv, and about 20% have 2 cvs, yet I still have quite a few fun games and see people push from time to time. I do agree however that the situation could still use some improvement though. Hopefully it won't get too bad after commander rework.

I also noticed that this game not only had no CV, it also barely had any Russian ship in it. Maybe coincidence? Weird how it turns out to be one of your most fun games and the match has these exact two attributes that go with it: 1. no CV, 2. very few Soviet ships

Had a ranked game 2 days ago with no cv, no radars and 5 dds each team. Good old dd knife fighting and i ended up killing 4 of them because Daring is stronk in a set up like that and i thrive in these "decide quick or die" situations of close range dd fights. But games like this are rare and in general it feels like WG is actively working on turning everything i really enjoy about this game to shit hence my dysfunctional relationship with it: playing - 3 months break - playing - 2 months break - playing - break/de-install (cv-rework - i will never play again!!) ------ half a year later : playing :/

Who are you kidding, 99% of all T8 and T9 games have T10 in them. Even some T7 games do depending on your division. As sad as that sounds, I've played over 1 dozen T7 games with T10's in them.

That's people making divisions with t7 and 8. Matchmaker bases your tier range on the highest ship in a division so having a lower tier division mate means risking a triple uptier, but that also means the red team gets a bottom tier as well. Had a t4 cv in a t7 game last night, even in my akatsuki I could shoot down full squadrons, felt like I was an eu dd for one match.

@@treeherder42 This just goes to show the total cluelessness of the development in this game. Not only should you never get tiered up in a game, but this scenario should instead go off of the lowest tier in your division. If you have a T8 in your team, a friend should be able to roll a T7 to make sure T9 is the highest ship you face. But really, no uptiering should ever happen, unless they added a bolster system to raise all the stats of the lower ships to match what would be the same tier as the highest tier in the match. When I'm in an uptiered match and I'm the low tier, I just want to turn into a potato and wait until it is over.

@@stevepeterson6070 the uptier does come with a reward boost and some ships can comfortably go up tiers. It's called a fail division and at one point you could division two tiers apart for a 4 tier difference until they put a block on it. Sure it sucks being bottom tier but not so much when you're top tier and at least you get those small xp/credit multipliers for hitting higher tier ships.

Very fast, but paper armour, tho not so easy to citadel coz of the turtle back. 32mm plating all around means you are so bad against HE spam. Guns, small relative to tier but good penetration and fire starting abilities. Reaload booster is super strong if you manage to catch broadside ship, engine boost will help you to get to position/disengage fast. Higher tier used to have monster secondaries but got nurfed to the ground with IFHE rework. Overall fun, if you know how to play them, but hard to learn. Not for a first line to grind imo.
