Z-52 is my fav DD Its multi tasking ability with cap contesting potential, makes it a joy to play. And its AP alpha is also pretty good, which drives me to it more.

Lutjens works very well on the Z-52, you make full use of the turret rotation and preventative maintenance, its quite easy to get the -7.5% to main battery reload, and most importantly, you get healed every 3 spots...

I thought both games were good and far beyond what I can achieve in the Z-52. Thanks for another great video. I really enjoy your One Take series because I learn more from your real time experience. Reviews are informative in there own right, especially when I'm considering getting the ship. This format helps there also, but the true value lies with improving my play in a ship I already have.

This ship indeed surprised me in 2022 :) . After mastering Halland, Marceau, Gearing and owning a flank on my own with Shima or Yueyang, this Ship is pretty cool. Haven't tried Lütjens on this, but will try it occasionally. Thank you for the nice one take series.

Z52 gets a lot of abuse but I've always liked it - the hydro's great. Whenever I potato a torp like that I always congratulate myself for preserving all that health to allow it (if I did). Nice to see PQ potato occasionally!

I average about 3.5k PR in this beautiful thing so far, just play with patience and bait people into you. Never force a "fair" fight or actively hunt kills unless its a guaranteed stomp win. Also lutjens spotting heal ability turns this thing into an absolute monster. Requires good positioning in the current meta, but patience will get you results. I also have 76ktn torps with increased flood chance since the good torp and gun spm can break a lot of damacons and win you games in unexpected ways.

I think Z-52 migth be good just because people underestimate it! It's pretty mediocre across the board, but you get that really nice hydro, and no real weaknesses, and if people push your smoke, well, you're gonna kill'em!😅

The fact it’s mediocre at everything makes it my favorite- no glaring weaknesses and decent at everything makes it hard to exploit by anything but radars/ being totally outnumbered

I loved that US BB tree line. Reminds me match, where i was" running" Minnesota with my clan mate in Alaska, enemy Halland was kept at safe distance behind, regularly sending his torps, I was going my 23knot top speed and eating just 1 fish in my already damaged aft, taking just 1-2K, very funny, we have won that match. That salvo consistency sometimes really surprise. Once full salvo few km broadside you see shells go under and over too, other time you shoot say Shikishima 6guns and get double strike on 2 almost dead big ships. Reminds me most satisfying moment shooting Shiki at medium range Moskva, landing 4!out of those 6shells as citadels, nothing left of cruiser. But thats more rare then Christmas, lol. Typical match zero to single citadel by me.

I like my Z-52. Once I came across an enemy dd in smoke shooting one my of my BBs on a flank. Just them out there. I closed in to the smoke and hydro'd the dd which was a gearing with the bumblebee skin. They left the smoke on the other side and I slipped in and use their smoke to keep firing on them. They didn't last long.

Even when you don't steal their smoke to kill them, there's been soo many times an enemy DD dies early in their own smoke and you get to take it over to farm damage.

Love the amount of AP damage you can get on BB superstructure when they broadside my German DDs, no BB thinks to angle to DDs.

I only have like 2 tier 10's unlocked, but one is the Z-52 and it's playstyle of DD's I've played so far is my favorite. I find the AP frustrating that it over pens broadside DD's. But if the DD's are slightly angled away I find it'll arm then as long as they aren't too heavily bow in. I also like the AP to farm superstructures. It'll pen Montana and mouse BB superstructures all day long. Light a fight then switch to AP.

You should get the Elbing. It's a blast to citadel a Neptune to death at 15km, or farm 8k per salvo on a Yamato sitting 16km away.

Didn't PQ put out a z-52 video not too long ago involving a full gunboat build? I had been thinking of doing it for a while but his video cemented the switch from torps to guns. Now I run a gunboat build with legendary torps and it serves me well.

i love to take that island on C you mentioned, playing from South, BB or CA. What i never do though is try to contest that Cap with a Shima. Imho thats a big waste cause i have no ability to spot or torp. I d'rather go wide, spot and Torp the other side of the island fe :)

They also need to either limit the number of Hybrid BBs or at least make them equal per side. If one team has a division of 3 Kearsarges and the other has none it makes for a very unbalanced game especially for DDs.

@@pancement That's Wargaming's take. But then they claim to lack the programming expertise to separate Radar CAs from regular CAs, Heavy CA, Battlecruisers from Light CAs. However a BB which can spot for itself is a far different creature than one that is dependent upon its team for spotting.

Yea Z-52 after the buffs is actually really good now, Z-46 as well. Gunther Lutjens with the heal and bft procs makes even nastier. I still don’t recommend the grind to people because the line is kinda ass until T9, but once you hit T9 these ships carry.

I've been going down the line lately and have actually really liked them so far, up to the Z-23 and while it definitely doesn't feel like it's hyper competitive against other tier 8s, it feels really nice to play. Gaede was a little monster in the right situations especially

@@MaidenofIron27 , yeah 23 on paper is not too bad, but in practice, it's tough to play. The ship is clumsy and the guns turn too slowly... if WG would fix the turret traverse on it, it would become a quite good hybrid ship.

Allow me to disagree. I am currently at the Maas, and her as well as Gaede, saved me after i potatoed on multiple occasions. They are good ships and Maas earned herself a permanent place in my port. That is how much i am enjoying her. I mess up? Her additional HP compared to other DDs keep me alive while her great firepower straight out murders enemy destroyers.

I think the German hydro ships make you play smarter, you're not walking in like a Smaland, Ragnar, or a Marceau and expecting to beat someone down. You gotta work, and that's not possible if you're not good at positioning and resource management or ignore the mini map. I really like both German DD lines and the premiums. I even like the Z -44. I prefer the hydro ships and I have around 600 games in T-61 (T-61 and Cossack are my fave ships to play). I think I am like 12k xp away from scoring the Z-52 and I am currently on the t8 for the gunboat baby cruiser DD branch. Only thing holding me back is WG. The update before the LWM incident went public made it impossible for me to log in for almost 10 days. Then the LWM incident and the subsequent CC walk out was a downer, so I took some time off. It was more then obvious WG doesn't care about the people who support the company. Then someone thought it was smart to add subs to ranked, so I skipped ranked. THEN someone brilliant at WG put subs into randoms, so I have played 5 games total in like a month. I enjoyed the game, I dislike the company. I can sit out a while, or I can just quit. Doesn't matter. I started playing other games, so I am fine. I really enjoy your content though. ^_^

the smoke hydro combo is nasty against other dds, ironically enough it is possible to cap contest with this mediocre concealment i watched this video not to see how i could use z52, to see how should i play z42 when it comes out, i think i will like this ship that does seem a z52 with more guns (but worse torps) and better smoke (even though that nerf hammer hurted more than it should have )

Of course Z-52 is a great ship. Popular opinion kinda scoff on it... Z-46 is the same. In randoms, I think it is at least as strong as the Jutland and daring... yep... it's just that you need to know the strenghts and weaknesses of all DDs, to make the Z-46 and Z-52 shine.... you have to know what situations to avoid... but they shine... and I prefer the german Z-46 and Z-52 over almost anything else... everything is good on those ships... the 32mm pen is something. You can hurt cruisers. The dmg output is very stable because of that. The shell arcs are good too. You can spec for gun range, and you can even easily snipe at radar cruisers at 13km, who think they are fine behind an island in the middle of the map... it annoys them a lot... You dont depend on fires. Torps are very fine. Speed is fine (73 knots if you want!), alpha is fine, reload time is good (90 secs), range is fine, torp detect range is good (1.4km i think). Very good torps overall. Smoke is kinda on the short duration side, but anyway, who sits a full 2 minutes in smoke? When spec full guns, with a 21 points captain, those Z-46 and Z-52 are no jokes.... hydro can help you cap control, on even kill almost for free many careless DDs... very strong DDs....

As a BB I don't mind subs all that much but when half the games are 4 dds 2 subs it's just the worst. You have 5ish mins of fighting the other BBs/Cruisers and then spend 10mins juking hoping for your team to spot something. If you're lucky you get to shoot at a 15km DD every 2min or so....

I think there should be a limit of up to 4 dds/subs per game, and if there are subs there should be only allowed up to 2 of them and the others be dds. Having 4 or 5 dds and 2 subs in the same game, almost every game, is just a nightmare and I’m finding every match to be more and more frustrating because of it. I’m a bb main, and I literally can’t play bbs because of this bullshit.

Honestly not very hard, I have a 21 point captain in Yamato and a 20 point in GK waiting to be retrained for either Prussia or Schlieffen, the rest of my captains are 10-15 points. As soon as you get a single 21 point captain, any xp you get for them you can put on any other captain you have instead.

The game has definatly becoming less fun, I had an all T8 game this week: 4 DD, 2 Subs, and 2 CV on EACH team. I'm in a Bismark, not fun at all.

This 1st game, is why I have trouble liking this game. (I have played it way too much, but liking the game is what I'm talking about). Imagine all you damage dealing ships: all took the best shot they could, and thought themselves they should have been good shots, but rng dispersion just said no at each and all of their first 3 salvos? Is that not close to the game, deciding a winner without any ability to influence the outcome, it feels futile, like the devs are just trolling people(me) into uselessness. 68% unplayable

IMO DDs have way too much battle impact, esp in terms of damage. BBs need to be the damage kings, and they need to be more rewarded for it. Im bored of seeing all but BBs at the top XP spots

Also, Gearing sucks these days. Slow, no heal, no hydro, guns are kinda junk, torpedoes are fairly good when you build EVERYTHING into them, and mostly… THE DIMENSIONS/ SHIP MODEL IS INCORRECT they really need to fix the exterior of Gearing for it to stand a chance of staying relevant
