I always thought they shouldn't have killed off the Kraken, they could (alternatively) have had it finish off the Endeavour instead. That might have been quite cool.

it kind of symbolices the end of the whole mythical and legendary explorer times and the start of the global trade network of Europeans. I really liked the death of the kraken, I just wish it wasn't offscreen. Maybe the endeavour killing the kraken or something would have been cool.

I love the Pirates of the Caribbean films, but the original scene always completely shattered my suspension of disbelief. The hulls of ships of the line were so strong that lighter caliber cannons would not even penetrate the hull. Even the strongest of calibers, 36-pounders couldn't inflict the level of damage we saw in the movie.

People who make these kinds of movies know nothing about history or battles. Even if these two ships managed to sink the Endeavour (which they wouldn't), the rest of the British fleet would have obliterated the pirate navy. They would not have cared that Beckett would have died. The British were expert seamen and would have continued to fight on. At the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, even after Horatio Nelson was mortally wounded, the British continued to fight against the combined French and Spanish fleets.

of course. first rate ship of the line vs. two pirate ships - bigger guns, more guns, thicker hull. no contest (if the dutchman wasn't "invincible").

This scene is probably what bothered me most about the entire movie. A ship like the Endeavour has over a hundred guns, the cream of which is 15x 32 pounders and 14x 24 pounders per side. Not to mention a significantly thicker hull due to it being a ship of the line (built to take punishment in the line of battle). The Black Pearl, being a brig, would have a broadside of 20x 9 pounders (Jack even confirmed this, giving the order to "lay out the nines"). The Flying Dutchman looks to be similarly armed, though a century older in design. Neither ship would even be able to dent the Endeavour with a single broadside, whereas a point-blank broadside from the Endeavour would have sent the Black Pearl back to the bottom of the sea. I get that the Dutchman is a magic ship that can't be sunk, but it has not ever shown itself to be immune to being torn to shreds - Will would have had to be captain of a few chunks of wood. Given the inability to miss at point-blank range, being flanked by the two small enemy brigs was the best position Cutler Beckett could have hoped for. He didn't even need to give the order, the naval officers would have given it for him when seeing him incapacitated like that. They were handed that fight on a silver platter. How did they possibly lose that? The Endeavour could have easily destroyed both the Black Pearl AND the Flying Dutchman simultaneously.

they are both ghost ships so good luck with that, the endeavour is meant to be a strong and heavy ship but nothing special when compared to the pearl and dutchman it is hardly even mentioned in the movie it might be big but it was intended to be weaker than the pearl and dutchman.

They call him "Lord" Cutler Beckett, when Norrington is fighting with Jack and Will, Jack says "The dark side of ambition" then Norrington says "I see it as the promise of redemption" Now who has the power to redeem others? That's right, Jesus Christ. Notice the pose of how Beckett dies in the end. This is no joke, Disney is under satanic influence, and we've got to pray for them, they're brainwashing the masses into thinking of Jesus as this terrible person.

The memories. Good thing someone is a genius. Broadsides from Galleons won’t even shake a ship of the line. What also sucks is the fact that the Pirates can’t do that much damage as they did in the movie with a single broadside. They were too fast to have time to fire more than one because even the fastest reloading time for cannons were 90 seconds. And 10-20 cannons would just dent a ship of the line at worst.

HMS Centre I know right. The pirates can’t have done that much damage with like 10 cannons per broadside unless they were firing them faster than machine guns because it takes lots of cannonfire to cause that much damage to a first rate

The HMS Endeavour is like the Executor super star destroyer from Star Wars: huge, imposing, with millions of guns. But doesn't ever get to display her firepower before getting unfairly swatted by the good guys. It's like Darth Vader appeared, put out his lightsabre, only to get shot to death by Rebel troops in the only scene we think he'll fight in.

In reality both ships would be DESTROYED. Not ONLY did the Endeavour out-gun both ships, they were AT THE SIDES, which meant the Endeavour could fire ALL 100+ guns AT ONCE. They're toast, really.
