Potentiometer pedal Pfaff 335-17B H2L old casting

This is a Clutch motor that only gets power through the potentiometer pedal? so it is not turning all the time correct? what type of potentiometer did you use?

incorrectlly threaded, you have bypassed the check spring.

How did you lock out the binding attachment from moving

I bought used Pfaff 335 h3 ,, I tried to use thread 138 with needle 22 but it keeps breaking ,, pressure foot and plate are normal not binding ,, thickness of leather veg tan 5mm , I tried 9mm also keep breaking , please advise ?? , thank you
