Cutting the necessary length of wire will save you material. I usually do 2 inches so I don't cut or just a bit at the end after making the loops

Love this video, great ideas on making interesting earring wires. I was surprised though, that Potomac doesn't have some of the tools you are showing, such as the hammering block and that cool special hammer. Doesn't matter, I found them at Amazon

Hi Susan, we've found that heavy items send the postage very high and it's one of our goals to keep postage costs to a minimum wherever possible. Glad you found some, now you can get creating! 😃

Thank you for sharing these ideas. I would love for you to show us the process making each of the actual designs you shared. The process to achieve these professionally designed ear wires can be helpful since I'm new to making jewelry. I love the kidney shaped wire, but is a bit confusing to achieve without a demonstration of the actual steps. The measurements are the more difficult just beginning. Do you have any videos to show a detailed demonstration? I would love it, if more of us newer artists could easily be remembered that we haven't done this before. Thank you.

Truly enjoyed Allie. You make me feel professional. Lol. What type of hammer , file did you use?😎👍🤗
@Potomacbeadco5 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, you can buy jewellery hammers that have two metal ends, usually one flat and one rounded, or you can buy the one with one metal head and one nylon head. It depends on which you prefer for the type of wire working you want to do. Hardening the wire can be done with both metal and nylon. The rounded head is more for dimpling sheet metals.

How do you make ear wires with a side loop?
@Potomacbeadco4 жыл бұрын
If you draw it to size on a piece of paper, then you can shape your wires to match it. 😃

i remember my aunt got a beautiful pair of earrings for me and it fit fine but then the next day my ear started to itch and when i took it out i actually saw the post actually turn black and it had bent so i tried and compared it to it's twin and then i showed it to my mum and aunt and they were like "what did you do to the earrings?" and i just said "i just wore them just yesterday and today my ear was itching and that made me take them out and this was what i just noticed immediately and i brought it to you to show" so after that my mum has started wearing them.......and also i had made a pair of earrings for my cousin as a gift and i showed my grand mother (a.k.a: my mum's mum) and the first thing she said after she shook her head was "Erin will not wear them because she is wearing gold earrings" and i just told her "the earrings she is wearing are not real gold.....they are just gold plated and no one really wears such earrings made of real gold especially for weddings these days where in Indian Rupees a pair of gold earrings like those that Erin wore last night, it would have cost a bomb and it would have been very heavy and those are not as heavy as they look" and then she calls my cousin to her and asked her in front of me if the earrings she was wearing the previous night were real gold or not and my cousin confirmed what i had told her.......in India you just see people buying tons of gold and other precious metals only on one day which is said to be auspicious to buy gold in the Hindu religion........and i forgot what that day is called

My friend reacts to gold too, it turns her skin black. I think it's caused by high sugar in the body. You can buy hypoallergenic ear wires - stainless steel, or our Zamak metals which appear bright silver but don't cause chemical reactions with your skin.
