Today's adventure takes us to Grundy County near Morris, Illinois and to Evergreen Cemetery. This pioneer cemetery dates back to the 1840's and contains the graves of some of the first settlers in the area. It's odd enough to find a grave of an Indian Chief but it's even stranger to find it amongst graves of the first settlers. I'll tell you why Chief Shabbona is buried here and I'll show you the original cemetery fence, the Civil War section, the Porter's Field, some amazing mausoleums, and the 130-year-old vault that stored bodies when the ground was too frozen to dig. So come join me as we explore the history rich cemetery.
