What great ideas! I always wanted to get Thanksgiving dishes, but I couldn't justify buying them for just one day. Your idea with the Dollar Tree dishes are not just an affordable option, but can be used all through October and November. Actually, I have six sets of dishes so I can change the tablescape frequently. You can't change your furniture daily, but you can change your dishes.

The people complaining about “over-consumption” and “clutter”, do you not like to decorate for the holidays, or at least your favorite ones? Nothing makes me happier than fall and Christmas decor. I do want my house decluttered, but I will not give up my decor. I have a place for it. She also showed how to have less clutter with decor, like using pillow covers instead buying new pillows.

I"m glad this came on a Tuesday- back to your regular schedule after the month's decluttering! And I'm still finishing up the home office- went through another year's worth of receipts this morning, and am up to just 18 months back! Time to get a rotation in place of perhaps 6 months unless it is a medical receipt (health savings accounts are tax deductible, thus 7 years), or something under warranty. If there's a fire or flood insurance is not going to cover food 6 months old anyway, so no need for those receipts. And I found myself outside at lunch, setting the timer on the cell phone as you did, to do yard cleanup for 15 minutes. It does make a big difference! I like to change out outside decor so the idea of just having a wreath and changing the decorations on it means you don't have to store the wreath, just change the decorations! So that saves on space in my garage as well. All the best.

You definitely have a talent for flower arranging and decorating. As for allergies I too tend to eat things I shouldn't. In my case sulfites. Garlic makes my throat and mouth burn.

Instead of buying new plates with pumpkins you can add pumpkins from a printed napkin with some modpodge ( or white glue) on your normal plain plates. They will hold with dry food. After halloween you wash them in hot water and the plates are back to normal. And instead of apples just use carrots, Melon or banana for dipping!

And then declutter all this stuff in a year though...I do struggle sometimes with the decluttering experts who also basically tell us to over-consume. Is that really what the decluttering turns into? I don't see these videos as contradictory really.. Truth is... you can keep ANYthing, just not EVERYthing. If decorating makes someone happy and they have the space for it, there's no need to declutter it. We don't have to be minimalists.....just intentional in only buying and keeping what truly is useful or makes us happy.

@@amberb135 , YES!!! I have a new rule for myself with this. If I find inexpensive pieces of holiday decor that I LOVE, I will get them, keeping in mind the "one in, one out" rule from Cas. In other words, it has to be something I love far more than what I have, and for fall, I added 7 items from the Dollar Tree, BUT, I also threw out 10 pieces I already had in my stash. Everything I purchased was $1.25, so I didn't go outside of my budget, and in the end, I got rid of more items than I purchased. I shop with a much more critical eye now...if I do not love something more than an item I already have, I don't buy it, and if I have no money for holiday decor, I don't spend a dime on anything new. I guess there's a balance to find with everything!

Hey Cas, about the apples: a allergist told me that you can actually go into anaphylaxis at any point if you eat things that you're allergic to, even if you never have earlier in life. You should never eat things that you're allergic to. The fact that your eyes swell is a clear warning that your throat could, too. Please, please, please refrain from eating tree fruit. Have your family, friends and assistant remind you if you need it. Stay safe!
