Making a flure was on my list - very informative - i feel confident with your detailed instructions to give it a go. Plus, you gave great links in the description to cover many extra points. Thank you!

Sweet! I'm excited that some of my friends out there really want to make flutes. It's a very fun project. I hope you have a blast with it. There's something very rewarding about making your own instrument to play - even if you don't tune it. :)

Thank you! It's good to be back. :) I chose a doozy of an editing project to come back with, but this is just so fun and different that I hope it helps people loosen up and tap into the joy of doing something just for fun. I'm really glad people are connecting with it.

thanks for another great tutorial janice. I've had some great success with ocarinas so i'm going to give one of these a try (and hybrid versions too)

Thank you! These are so much fun! I hope yours turn out awesome. It can take a little trial and error to figure out how to position your mouth and blow into the hole to get it to make noise. Once you do, it's probably smooth sailing from there.

Does firing the clay change the pitch of the flute?
@EvolutionStoneware4 жыл бұрын
Yes it will shift a bit. The notes will stay in tune relative to each other. Please watch this follow up video for details on how the tuning changes and also some playing tips. You can make one, measure the shift in pitch that your clay shrinkage causes, then make another pitched flat by the corresponding amount so that it's in standard pitch after firing. The good thing if you don't want to play it with other instruments in standard tuning is that you can play solo on your flute no problem since it stays in tune relative to itself (full or half steps between the notes). The shift will vary by your clay & your firing method. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKDdqZ2GYrN1d68

I tried a few different ways to make a flute just like you made here, and mine didn't make a noise, nope nothing. I will give it another go soon. I hope i succeed this time.
@EvolutionStoneware5 жыл бұрын
As long as you have sharp, straight edges on your blow hole, it is very likely that you need experiment with how you are positioning the flute and how you are blowing. It's very hard to describe how to do it. For me it's pretty automatic, but my husband can't play them *at all*. I'm working on another video that will hopefully help show the way to blow.
@EvolutionStoneware5 жыл бұрын
I just posted a video with some tips and demonstration on how to blow into the flute to create sound. Although I show it on a round flute, it is exactly the same for a transverse flute. I hope the demo from a few different angles will help! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKDdqZ2GYrN1d68

Bonjour , est-ce un accordeur numérique dont vous vous servez pour accorder vos flûtes ? Merci
@friedfish697 ай бұрын
This is something I have wanted to learn to do for long time. Lon enough that I think I may have a sumight ggestion. A narrower tube might make it easier to pay the lower notes, and might produce a slightly clearer tone. That will mean a longer tube and a wider finger spread. Sorry about that.

Ya i delved deep in to fluting, probably sold 300 ocarinas animals and whatever the people want. This has been done for thousands of years , look at the birdie!
