Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! You've helped me immensely on my flute-crafting journey! PS - Was that superglue you were putting in the track around the 9 minute mark?

I loved the sound of the flute singing when you burned the air trough the second time. it sounded like wind bowing far off. I knew it would be a good flute right then.

Your videos are great! I would like to build a flute like one of yours and if I can I would like to ask you a few questions. Is there a way to predetermine the base note of the flute (the one keeping all the holes closed)? Are there, for example, tables or formulas that, depending on the length and diameter of the flute, will suggest what its base note will be? Thank you!

There are calculators galore online. They usually don't work very well for calculating the distances or sizes of flutes although this is what they're supposed to do. The best way to determine the sounds of a flute before making it is by following the patterns in my book. 😉 They all come from hands-on experience not theories.

Nice! Interesting 😀 I go to sleep with Native American flute music, no other accompanying instrument, just flute . I feel so peaceful falling asleep to soft flute music and I feel it is taking me to another dimension while I’m sleeping, like in wide open places. ❤️🙏

That was awesome! I finally, after half a decade, have a job that let's me buy an occasional luxury. I'd like it to be one of your flutes. Are there any river cane walking stick type flutes available?
@BlueBearFlutes11 ай бұрын
🙏Thank You! 🙏 through the years, we have designed and redesigned our flutes so that they could be the best. That having been said, we discontinued River cane flute sometime ago because the general public isn't aware of how to take care of it as well as the flute maker might. Of course we still offer walking sticks today which I'm working on as we speak however they are made of a much more durable and easier maintained would. In my opinion they sound much more incredible as well! www.bluebearflutes.com/product-page/copy-of-pine-native-american-flutes

Not coming back from wide open places does not sound that bad 😀 I watched your video on the different flutes, their size and sound. I am not attracted too much by the sound of the tinny ones but my favorite seems to be the one in the key of D which you mentioned as your favorite or one of your favorite but less accurate, because of the spread of the fingers? I just wondering if it is suitable for a total beginner. I do not have very long fingers, medium length I guess. I mess around with my Ukulele and have learn a few chords but that is pretty much the extent of it. Practicing scales now and arpeggios. The flute in D is pretty long, but does it matter? Is it OK to start with this one? I also like the one in the key of G. Which flute is it at the beginning of this post video I am commenting on right now?

Hello I bought a quena flute from Amazon but it's not tuned, little bit flat from G Can you help how to make it tune Do I need to increase the end hole or open a 7th hole Please I need ur help specily I'm living at Egypt and no one her has experience in this kind flute
@BlueBearFlutes2 жыл бұрын
Hi Emile, that's a great question! I appreciate you asking for my help. It is true if you trim a little off of the end or open up the bottom hole a little it will make it sharp, not flat. However, most importantly, a quena has a tone which is tuned mostly by your embouchure/mouth so it is possible for you to make it play sharp without changing anything on the flute. Please feel free to contact me through my website and email me a picture of it so I can give you more information.

@@federicobacher that's a great question I do have video specifically to each flute size and making the fingerings for such. I would like to let you know that depending on the diameter and length of your material is going to determine where the fingers should be placed.
