Very cool tutorial PPG!! One day, some day I may have Canna Lilies again and I'll be back here to be reminded of the process! Your bulbs are in such great shape!! I so love that you can divide them at this stage!! They are such amazing plants and they are those hummingbird magnets!! Love this! Thanks so much, my friend!! PS *Red Cannas works! lol🤗💖

😀 they are a stunning flower. I hope you can enjoy some of your own soon. It’s funny how tags get lost and I could make up the most creative name I want, but descriptive is where I go.

Agreed, so beautiful PPG!! Someday!! Descriptive is the way to go in my humble opinion!! That is how we design afterall, not by latin names!! lol Cheers PPG!!💖@@PrairiePlantgirl

Hi thank you for sharing and guiding us through your process potting canvas. I was wondering if I could use odorless manure instead of peat moss when prepping the potting mix?
@PrairiePlantgirl2 жыл бұрын
That would probably be fine. I would just watch the moisture level to make sure it isn’t rotting the rhizomes as they are waking up and forming roots. I’d love to hear your results if you try it.

I just started mine and week ago too,I pick up a pack of caladium and elephant ear bulbs from Costco I’m gonna try those out too😃

Oh. I always think I’m going to try those, but never see them when I’m looking for them. Enjoy your time in the garden.

Planted up my Canna March 20. I can see now I could of divided them up more. However I but then in 14inch pots. Cant wait for earlier blooms this year.

That’s going to be super. I usually do mine earlier but it just hadn’t made the priority list yet. Now I’m in a rush to get my summer bulbs going 😊.

Hi there and thanks for the tutorial. I too am in zone 3. When did you pot these up last spring? Thanks in advance and happy gardening.
@PrairiePlantgirl2 жыл бұрын
I believe that video is from a few years ago. I normally start my cannas inside the last week of March. You need to look more at your average last frost date than growing zone for things that don’t overwinter outside. Start your cannas at least 6 weeks before that date.
@georgejennings9959 Жыл бұрын
Aren't you afraid of that rogue frost especially being so far north? A sunroom would help ease things and extend the growing season and Canna apparently needs 10 months.

I’ve grown cannas for many years. They flower every summer for me.
