I came across your channel not that long ago and I’m enjoying your videos and all you information you provide, thank you. Question for you do you plant hot and sweet peppers together in the same bed?
@PrairiePlantgirlКүн бұрын
Yes I do.
@valerieg5908Күн бұрын
@ thank you for confirming, I have seen many people say not to do that. Do you find that they are still fine and that the sweet don’t taste spicy or I think they said cross-pollinate with each other . I have a small garden and still new to gardening and was thinking of doing the same this gardening season and putting both in the same bed.
@PrairiePlantgirlКүн бұрын
It does not affect the growth or flavour of the peppers that year. If you want to save seeds it can affect what you will get from those seeds. I have saved seeds successfully, very rarely do I find cross pollination issues from saved seed. That said, I usually just use purchased seed to be safe.

I am considering purchasing this model snow blower, but I have a question about how easy it is to move around, especially when you have to back up a lot. I have a patio area where its best to make push the snow forward, then back up. My current snow blower's "fast" reverse is really slow so I end up just dragging the thing back 6-8' and lining it up for the next pass. Thank you for sharing your video.
@PrairiePlantgirl4 күн бұрын
It has a reverse gear. I don’t find myself dragging it backwards because I’m impatient with the reverse speed. I did drag our old Snow Joe because it was so slow. We are really happy with this machine.

After seeing this, I just ordered one from Amazon. Was it difficult to set up? How many winters have you had it? How long does it run on a charge?
@PrairiePlantgirl9 күн бұрын
Easy to set up, just a few bolts for handles. The run time will depend on how heavy/deep the snow is but we usually get 30 minutes which does more than a triple car driveway plus sidewalks. We have had one for more than three years that we use at a commercial property. We just purchased this one (exact same model as at commercial property) to replace a SnowJoe at our home. We love it!

How often do you apply the plant food A and B? I see we are using 50ml total to start but is there a solid set day after that? Will the system let me know? I gotta use manual mode. Don't have space to go under the letpot for another resevoir. Thanks.
@PrairiePlantgirl9 күн бұрын
Every time I refill the water I add nutrients. I am no expert with hydroponics, but that is how I understand to do it. Adding water manually is the best way to go with this system. You don’t need to add very often with that large reservoir and then you don’t have tubes and extra jugs of water in the way.

Having a snowblower does speed things up- especially when the snow is heavy and wet. A lot of the time I am content to shovel if it is a lighter snow. This year has been a great year to own a snowblower.

Remember one of our deer hunting buddies was picking up deer dropping for fertilizer but I believe that's something we shouldn't have contact with. im trying to start little blue stem indoors because I want to plant a row of it in my yard this year. How did yours turn out? Any advice now that you've done it? I probably started a little early but I was too excited to wait... also going to try some wild flowers and vining plants like clematis and jasmine. I want to do milkweed for monarchs as well but it looks like I need to let those seeds go through some cold cycles outdoors before they'll grow...
@PrairiePlantgirl22 күн бұрын
I am very happy with the little bluestem that I grew. It transplanted well and has grown into nice sized little plants. They are currently sticking above over a foot of snow and still looking great. Watch that you don’t over water the seedlings as it can be easy to do with grasses. You may need to bump up the plants into larger pots to make watering easier before they can be planted out. As for seeds that require cold treatment- you can place them in the refrigerator for a month or two before sowing. Some seeds want moist vernalization (a baggy of damp sand or peat moss) some are fine just going in dry. Some research will be helpful to determine this.

Thanks for info. Yes, info online seemed confusing of what to do. I just received them and stopped planting when it said soak-then remember others planting inside about March. I have anemones, but think they are similar to ranunculus. Will need to get ranunculus to compare. So I guess they all need to be dug up before winter in cold zones. Sigh. Lol, I ordered more bulbs when they marked them down more-racing to get them in today before cold weather.
@PrairiePlantgirlАй бұрын
Anemones are treated the same as ranunculus. Plant indoors about 2-3 months before planting outdoors. Dig in fall and bring inside. Store dry. Good luck getting all your bulbs planted.

So I’ve taken soil off , stored them on newspaper in plastic opens container on she window is that ok ! They don’t need water do they ?
@PrairiePlantgirlАй бұрын
You want them in darkness in a cool space (around 10 C) for storage. Depending on your climate you may want some moisture in your storage medium (spritz the newspaper slightly). Check the rhizomes in nice a month to make sure they are not shrivelling and drying out.
