I love Heucheras (in pots) but the black vine weevils love them more. So, I’ve given up and plant Hostas instead.

18 years ago, I started a new very large garden. Planted 5 Heucheras which thrived, and over the years there were hundreds of them growing down a hillside. Never had another plant self so was much except for Brunneras. Gave away as many as friends wanted. They even mutated to differing colors. Do the newer varieties self sow as much as the 20 year old purple ones? I don’t seem to have ever had this weevil problem. The plants form thick stems which then sprout new plants all along it and grow as from a rhizome.

Excellent demonstration; thank you. Heuchera is the mainstay of my garden. I have about three dozen of them; maybe 18 varieties/species; all in 2-gallon pots. So I appreciate this video very much. ...Do you prune back all your Heucheras when you re-pot them?

The normal pottinf soik in baga isnt always perfect for potting om younger plants etc... What kind of product would you recommend to make your own perfect mix. Ideally not that many different components. Ive trued just putting in perlite with the compost but i dint feel like its ideal

Was tidying mine …last year I noticed Heuchera rust, so cut off the worst leaves (not all, a mistake) This spring even the new growth have rust spots so shall I cut off ALL the leaves, even little new ones? Or can the plants not be saved :(
