Hi Eli and Kate, You certainly know how to make use of the space you have, nice healthy look plants too, I have 2 quad grow units no like yours though, and my greenhouse is full of San Marzano tomatoes (10) with the odd cucumber, I like your style Eli tell it as it is not to follow you on experiments, You both take care and stay safe.

10 Ronald.... OMG how big is your greenhouse? Am I going to be super jealous? I grew San Marzano last year but wasn't overly impressed with the flavour. I may go back to it, I tend to have one plant that is my test something out plant, so maybe :) So if you have 10 tomatoes in there, do you grow anything else? Is there space?

Interesting to see you use Quadgrow- never heard of it before.I swithered about how to plant up my tomatoes, so i've made a planting bed in the greenhouse and planted directly into the ground. (It was partly cos i couldn't get slabs delivered due to lockdown). I've moved a lot of stuff out into the garden, so the greenhouse is looking a bit sparse- except my partner LOVES chillis, so i've got about 20+!!!!!
@eliandkate4 жыл бұрын
ha ha ha that's a lot of chillies! We just couldn't keep up with the amount we were producing, but to be fair, we don't do a lot of cooking that involves chillies.

HI Eli, I have tried to get hold of a couple of the Quadrgrow self watering systems to grow my peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers but the Greenhouse sensation web site has been down to a long time and my emails keep getting returned, there is no a phone number to ring in an order. Do you how I can get a hold of these. Love your videos. I live in Peterborough with only a home made polycarbonate greenhouse and would love these quadgrows

Hey Sue I’ve been told that the company have actually closed down, so you can’t get these anymore 😢

Hi Eli Do you know of anything similar to the Quadgrows I am still working full time and watering is sometimes a problem. I was after a vitopod as well, but that is the same company (just my luck). I grow food for my daughters guinea pigs as well as for us so everything is organic.

Hi, could you tell me the minimum temperatures tomatoes need in the greenhouse. I am sure 10 degrees centigrade was mentioned somewhere but I can’t find it again. Thank you.
@eliandkate3 жыл бұрын
Hey David I have always been told that they will tolerate a night time temperature down to 14ºC but if the daytime temperature falls below 15ºC for a week or more, growth and fruiting will be massively reduced and if the night time temperatures drop below 14ºC, the plant doesn't develop and flowers won't set fruit. The ideal temperature for tomatoes growth and fruit production ranges between 20ºC and 24ºC Hope that helps

Hi what support do you use for your tomatoes? I’m just a beginner, love your videos
@eliandkate3 жыл бұрын
I've used different ideas over the years. I've found both string and canes work well. You'll see in the more recent videos that I have tall spiral supports which are great because the plants dont need to be tied to them, I twist them on as they grow.

Hi, great video and thinking about a quadgrow now.... wondering how do you stake your tomatoes? I normally use the neck things in the grow bags that have holes to tie string to, but it doesn't look like the quadgrows have string holes. Many thanks
@eliandkate3 жыл бұрын
I normally use a cane and tie the plant to that. With the newer version of the quadgrows you can buy a mulch cap which has holes in it to take canes at either side but I just use one in the pot with the plant.

What’s a feeder mat
@eliandkate2 жыл бұрын
The way the quadgrows work is that their is a strip of capillary matting that runs through the pots into the water reservoir underneath. This lets the plants pull water and fertiliser from the reservoir as they need it
@stephenlewis20844 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of those Quad Grows but I'm not liking the idea of the chemical additives they come with. Have you used the system with any organic fertilizer instead? Thanks.
@eliandkate4 жыл бұрын
Hey Stephen, I have used other feeds over the years but do tend to stick with the nutrigrow feed as I'm happy with the results. I'm not an organic gardener (in the correct use of the term) so I can't comment on which organic feeds work best, but I imagine if someone wanted to use a home made feed, it would work equally well as a non homemade one. But no experience to tell of.

I've got quadgrows this year Eli, they were recommended to me last year and when I saw that you thought they were good I decided to bite the bullet. I'm dying to plant up my toms but I'm not sure how soon I can do it. Mine are still in 3 inch pots although they're beginning to show roots through the bottom. Can I plant them straight into the quadgrows or am I best to put them in a slightly larger pot as you have and wait a while yet? Don't want to risk it if it's unwise!
@eliandkate4 жыл бұрын
It's not ideal but yes you can. I have done this in previous years and it's been fine. As usual, just be careful with the delicate little things :)
@marionmunro95984 жыл бұрын
@@eliandkate Thanks, they've grown about 3" in the last week so they're not so delicate, about 6" tall now so I think I'll risk it, I'm running out of space on the staging lol.
