Just dissected the Craftsman version of this saw on the bench because of the same problem. Chunks of hose fell out of the oil reservoir, but couldn't tell how it was routed just by jamming my finger in and feeling around. Now I know what's up, thanks!

Yep, struggled for the same reason but found the right size pipe, and now its become my favorite chainsaw. Light, simple, parts everywhere, its a good number.

Since you find parts everywhere, could you provide a link to your source for parts for this saw? I find that most parts for these saws are discontinued. I did find the filter Nick is talking about, however, not through the link he provided because it’s currently unavailable.

I managed to use 1/8 line (was much cheaper. I used 3/32 tygon for fuel). It fits TIGHT, but wasn't too much of a struggle to install. Wasn't too loose on the end barbs.

Have the same type saw. Does your chainsaw gas cap shoot out gas through a small vent hole in gas cap? Do you know the spark plug part number for this chainsaw?

One parts site shows RCJ8Y as the plug. amzn.to/3ue1taG Gas doesnt shoot out the vent hole but it does leak there if I turn the saw. Heres a link to a new gas cap. amzn.to/3OP8ZSw part numbers were found from this site www.partselect.com/Models/2300AV/

did the same, but I used a larger lawn mower filter(sponge) it was big enough to make three filters

Don't discount these little saws I have had 4 of them for 30 years. once you get it going you will fall in love with it. We always take one these saws out as a backup saw when we cut fire wood. Cant tell you how many times my frontline saw has broken and these little saws have cut the whole load.
