For me, the most moving line of this work is "ob amorem filii" (on account of the love of her son) at 24.18min. Seeing all those ladies sing that line, imagining how many of them are mothers...i wonder how emotional it feels for them singing that line. So beautiful.

Poulenc’s harmony seems to never wander too far from tonal/modal harmony but always tickles your brain in the most unique ways. Perfection of unity between tradition and modernity.

It's like a scifi/steampunk/noire soundtrack for the end of civilization. Glorious masterpiece, and glorious soprano! I feel a lot of the audience doesn't appreciate what they just heard. Outstanding performance and perfect setting and sound. Thanks.

Hello! Congratulations on an incredible performance, as always! I come to suggest the presentation and recording of Symphony No. 1, "The Bells of Zlonice", by Antonín Dvořák. Unfortunately, there is no full recording on KZbin. I'm sure your performance will be an excellent record of this incredible work, as well as a gift for us listeners of good music and a memorable tribute to Dvořák. Please consider my suggestion. I thank you for your attention!

These singers have to have very good ears - those Poulenc modulations come at you from out of nowhere. Bravo!!!

Splendid, and now this is the one to beat on KZbin. Some of the tempos may seem a tad cautious on video, but I think the maestro was properly gauging the acoustics of this great church for the benefit of his audience. The soprano, Miss Santoni, is pursuing a busy opera career in Europe, no surprise. She is more than welcome to sing here in the USA!
