I suppose those of us raised on farms, 50's to 60's as a kid, will always find this concern nowadays regarding a chicken's stress levels a bit strange and amusing. We did, however, put a transistor radio in our chicken coop and tried to find a station playing quiet folk music or the like. I think our chickens, and the cows next door, enjoyed that.

Have you looked into this chicken breed they use in factories? Its name is Cornish Cross and the chicken is extremely lazy and eats constantly. Even if they would be free they would probably just sit idly next to the footplate anyway. Chickens are extremely dumb also, so I don't really think they even suffer in those cages that much, but that's just my opinion.

Hi, How do you keep your chicken happy and ensure they are receiving a nutritionally balanced diet? Additionally, what kind of foods or grains or vegetables do you feed them so that they stay healthy and can not get sick? Do you get foods from suppliers or you produce your own foods and what kind of foods is that? I'am an aspiring chicken farmer and would be grateful if I get answer from you since it would a great help for me. Thanks in advance for your help and consideration. Jacques M

The reason I feel they are suffering as it is similar to someone put you in beautiful and clean jail and fulfill your needs but you can't move around just got the minimum space to live for the whole life until you get the turn to get killed. it is hell.. imagine to apply this on humans and feel. animals are already so helpless due to being speechless, please let them live in open environment for their life.

i dote: don't compare chicken with lion or bacteria.. every species is made by God differently. lion is meat eater only and that's its food. lions would not survive if they don't eat meat. God made their minds accordingly. chickens, cows, pigs are very friendly animals. go to websites like earthlings and find out how they feel when humans kill them. their mind can think exactly similar way as humans. they feel pain. they like to be loved. another point , bacteria is harming us, we need to kill it. chickens, pigs, etc they like to be loved. please educate yourself about why people go vegan. and find out yourself.
@idote82437 жыл бұрын
lions like to feel loved too and so do wolves and other man eating animals ...who says bacteria is bad for us? your own body is made up of bacteria as well, they are essential to our survival...lmao @ chickens being able to think exactly like humans xD ...and stop with this vegan. go vegan? please stop educating yourself and start being open minded

It is fabulous for everyone unless you happen to be one of the hens who has to spend her entire life in a one square metre cage with approx. seven others. With no space to move or perform any natural behaviours and clipped beaks so they can't hurt their cage-mates when they go slightly mad. The video boasts about high welfare standards for the hens but it is all about profit.

Very, very sad. These chickens will never see outside, sun, rain, fresh air, they cannot walk, never will have sex, contaminated with all kind of chemicals like anti-bio tic ect.
@nickys55787 жыл бұрын
okay 1 chicken sex is more like rape 90% of the time I mean it's their way biologically but still quite violent and often females end up with injuries or bald heads. male chickens do not stick a penis into the females once they are receptive the male pretty much drops a load from a vent and her vagina feels the fluid and seriously sucks it it look up people who do artificial chicken insemination ( some do inject though but most just drop it on the chicken vag. Also sun rain and fresh air are not what it is cracked up to be or we wouldn't have ac and houses. chickens in many parts of the world die and get more diseases outside as well as parasites and worms. I do agree with better breeding and culling out bad genes and I am for giving them leg room but I am also for massive green house like building to provide them shelter and a more stable temperature. I am not opposed to cages but I think it should be used to test production not to hold the chicken for their entire life. after production is tested select breeders and producers and those to cull. I Only breed the top from immunity, growth and genteelness during handling. After their first year in cages after spending 6 month growing in a range area I cage them separately for a year to monitor growth and production it also allows me to see which one are more domestic. Then after I have my numbers my breeders are broken up into little flocks and placed with a male I actually do not incubate my eggs I let the hens do that I just date the eggs (sometime separate them in a chiller and then reintroduce the real clutch not the golf balls and let them raise their eggs so they all hatch on the same day) with a pencil and chicks that don't make it the 8 weeks with their birth flock they don't make it to the next stage. I breed this way so you don't get retarded livestock hens who can't raise their own chicks and yet you still get good and healthy and domestic chickens. As for chemicals and that organic crap I am sorry but if I have a sick pet I will give it meds and I know commercial industry does it so bad but realize that even if I give them any medication even once I may not be able to call my chicken organic and I truly take time and care for my chickens personally which is probably why I am still small scale compared to these guys because I see every chicken everyday.
