My brother and his wife made a ton of money after the Oakland Hills fire, furnishing and decorating those homes. That was the first fire of its kind in the country. Now it is commonplace and the people accept it. My whole town of Altadena just burned to the ground. It is shocking. No water was used at all. Not sure why. Great report ML>

Fire station closures impact response time for not only fires but medical emergencies as well. In both cases seconds matter. Understaffed Firefighters and Police means not only endangering the public but also results in time and a half pay for overtime for those covering shifts and double time and a half for holidays. Not a good way for the city to save money. Thanks Leo! You are the only one I know of out there with boots on the ground showing us these things!

Metal LEO is the only one I know of documenting the stages of this blight. It gets worse with each one! This will likely be the only historic record of what happened, when, and the outcomes. The last major fire in Oakland was 1991? 30 years of fuel built up. That's asking for trouble. This also doesn't include the higher risk for a major earthquake. More insurance companies will leave knowing there is a near 100% chance of a total loss for many properties due to lack of firefighters and lack of brush management.
