According to Islam, Khabib could be middleweight champion, even now. But when Khabib was asked to share his thoughts on this he said "give him (Adesanya) some respect.. he's defended his title 5 or 6 times and you can't just say some lightweight can come in and beat him" In conclusion, 4 people that know more about mma than all of us combined said he could have if he wanted to, and so i think Khabib's response was truly respectful towards another champion, and didn't care much for people putting him on a pedestal.
