Thank you for the lovely tutorial. I love this piece, beautiful colours and composition. I am about to try using liquid latex or wood wax for the back of my wood pieces and then the resin just peels off.

I thank you for your tutorial. I was looking for a simpler way to host a class making boards Without using resin ...I think I will test a board using your acrylic paint pour method, then try giving a protective coat of Mod Podge for Puzzles. And see how that turns out ☺️👍🏽

You're very welcome! If that finish isn't shiny enough you could try using liqutex gloss varnish.

Thank you! My boards already come food safe, and so should you buy from any retail situation. If you have to restain the board then follow the steps at the end of the video to make it food safe or wait 30 days. Hope that helps!

Can we use cutting board oil, for the topcoat (after sanding)
@ChromaYadi
@ChromaYadi 2 ай бұрын
You can use it as a top coat but if you sand the board it won't quite blend the wood together like stain would.

Notice that you Stain the board, I'm new at this so wasn't sure you could use a stain because of it being used to put food on it. Due to the oiling of the board wouldn't the stain come through the cutting board? Love your video .

Hi Debra! I try to restain as minimally as possible because you're right it's not food safe unless it sits for 30 days. I don't typically have that long to wait so if apply stain to the front of the board I will add a food safe varnish like I mentioned at the very end of the video. Also the boards I get do not have any oil on them so I've never encountered stain issues with that. You could always strip the wood first though if you thought that'd be a problem. Hope this helps!

Th8s is a great video, full of great information. Thank you for sharing. A side note, I'm hearing impaired so when you are talking over your music it is very hard to get what you're saying, the music is very distracting. Otherwise i teally enjoyed this video

@ChromaYadi you can turn it on but most of the time it messes words up and you really don't get the gist of what's being said. I have to just plain turn the volume down on some videos. Most of the hearing aids today ate rechargeable so videos that have a loud banging music or someone talking over the music can be draining on a hearing aid. If it's a video with just music I turn my volume completely down. A video like yours where I want to know what you're saying is difficult because sometimes it's can't get the words right because there's music in the background that distorts the words. Thank you for caring enough to ask. Louise McKay always voices over if her heater is running loudly & she'll put music on but always shuts it off if she's speaking

@@anitapotter2586 good to know. I never realized that could be a problem for people with hearing disabilities. I'll try to keep that in mind in the future.

I got encouraged, after seeing this video, to pour on several boards ive had for a while.. i thought i was supposed to sand them down to remove the finish so i did. I came back and now i see you didnt do that! lol . Do i need to ger minieral oil or somthing for them or do i add it after? thanks!
@ChromaYadi

So glad I inspired you! You definitely don't need to sand them. If it's back to being in a raw unfinished wood state I'd just restrain it. You will either have to let it sit for a pretty long time though to get it back to a food safe finish or then add a varnish to it.

Sarah, I’ve wanted to try this, great tutorial, love that you’re so detailed thanks so much. My question is, does the board need to be sanded down before pouring paint of resin ?
@ChromaYadi
@ChromaYadi 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anna! I do not sand my boards just straight pour. I have found that doing a couple of spray paint coats first does help fill in some of the wood texture though and gives you a smoother look once paint or resin dries. 💕

Hi! I just painting boards and resined the whole board afterwards. I ended up sanding the whole thing, but not all the resin is shiny after buffing it and I can still some some scratches from sanding. I sanded using 60, 110 and 150 grit on an orbital sander and 200 with a hand sander. Do you think I need to continue to sand either more with 200 or with something else? Thanks!!
@ChromaYadi
@ChromaYadi 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rachel! If Ive interpreted your question correctly you'll need to do an additional final coat of resin if you've sanded it.
@rabrams91
@rabrams91 2 жыл бұрын
@@ChromaYadi I thought that after you're done resining, you should sand and then buff/polish. I did a few coats of resin and then sanded them to get all the imperfections out. If I resin again, I'm concerned about more imperfections if that makes sense
@ChromaYadi
@ChromaYadi 2 жыл бұрын
@@rabrams91 I've never buffed or polished resin so I can't weigh in here. I usually just do 1-3 so any imperfections are covered up.

Can you use the white masking tape?
@ChromaYadi
@ChromaYadi 2 жыл бұрын
You can probably use any type of tape theoretically but you want to make sure it works really well at holding a crisp line against liquid materials. You could always do a test with some pour paint to see how it stands up. I've seen others use electrical tape as well. 💕

I don’t understand going trough the tedious taping process if you can easily sand it later🧐
@ChromaYadi
@ChromaYadi 11 күн бұрын
Sanding the back of the board once it has resin drips on it is actually extremely tedious and will most likely result in unevenness in your wood. That being said this is an older video. I've since found much faster methods for blocking off the back of the board like the one featured in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGTQaZuAqbacmKc Thanks for watching! :)
