Vintage antaeus if you want to stick with chanel or equipage if you want a different brand like hermes to review. But if you look at hermes you have to check out bel ami and bel ami vetiver. I believe guy roberts is the nose behind equipage and he is an absolute titan in the industry. -Ramsey

Finally picked this up myself recently. You hit the nail on the head, what a fantastic blend. Really pick up on the vanilla and citrus, exceptionally classy and refined. Chanel quality is impeccable. 👍🏻

Hello to you, as a side note it was not release in 2016...but in 1991 as "eau de parfum concentré "...and they renamed it to " eau de parfum" , it means the same in French. thanks for the review.

Spot on, too much overly sweet vanilla powdery stuff that smells too feminine like PdM Leyton in todays perfumery. Women like it on men though for some reason.

Couldn't agree more. Much prefer my edp over the edt, but both excellent blends. For me, a reference citrus aromatic along with AdP's Colonia, Eau Sauvage and Monsieur de Givenchy.

The original vintage Pour Monsieur is one of my absolute favourites, subtle and refined but definitely masculine. The modern EDT is not so good with reformulation. Unfortunately, buying vintage scents is a real risk, especially with citrus fragrances. Bought 4 or 5 which have that acrid bitter smell which never leaves.

Yep exactly ! citrus fragrance go sour the fastest, I’ve sent back several that I have got on eBay over the past year. It’s that musty vinegar scent and it really is easily distinguishable because all sour scents citrus based or not smell exactly the same

At 2:23. that code # of 127.451 might be the *formula code* for your bottle. There was something written on the right side of the last line of the ingredients, but the picture was blurry and I couldn't make out what it said. Was it 6.44 or something like that? That could also be a formula code. If you batch code is 6001, that's a Dec. 2020 bottle. This was my suit and tie office scent back in the 1980's along with Azzaro Pour Homme. I would buy the splash bottles of the Pour Monsieur edt concentree back then (more ml's for less money). As has been said, Chanel Pour Monsieur is "Class in a bottle". Right now, the only place you can get the edp in the USA is direct from Chanel for $100.

This one is a nice classic & classy masculine fragrance but it’s not on the top or towards the top of my list. I think I prefer fragrances that are a bit more complexed & interesting. Pour Monsieur is as you said more for serious office type of scent. I like Antaeus from classic CHANEL. The classic fragrances that are discontinued and I’d love to see come back are; 1) DOLCE & GABBANA “By”, 2) D & G “Masculine, 3) YSL OPIUM, 4) YSL Rive Gauche, 5) Christian Dior Homme Parfum, 6) ESCADA POUR HOMME, 7) Perry Ellis (Original 1985).

Recently discovered your reviews and really enjoying them, cheers! Bringing back Dunhill for Men (1934) would do the world good. You can still pick some up on the discount retailers online at a bargain. Original barber shop scent and very rich yet subtle, an under the radar scent. Well worth getting while you can.

Probably redundant, but do you have Rochas Moustache 1949 (or Original, whatever it's called)? It's an awesome lemon based fougere, very cheap, and performs OK. Similar family as this edt (had a sample of it, but haven't tried this version yet), Eau Sauvage, Monsieur de Givenchy etc. As far as discontinued scents go, I'd really like Davidoff to bring back Good Life.

I just checked, and I agree with your review of Moustache. Though I guess I'm lucky and I get better performance out of it. But yeah, it's a nice, powdery lemon scent. Maybe kind of boring in comparison to Eau Sauvage, Capucci, Chanel PH, Monsieur de Givenchy etc, but very nice and pleasant. Good Life was great. A really nice green freshie. Sort of related to D&G, Dune, or Ferragamo PH, but different. Thanks for the review dude

Back in the 1980's it was called 'For Gentlemen' . I liked it. Then they changed the name to Pour Monsieur and at the same time changed the fragrance formula. I didn't care for the change as compared to the original.

I recently picked this up and the scent does not disappoint, it is definitely a Chanel scent if you know Chanel. However, I’m not getting the performance out of it as described in the review. I’m getting a 2-3 performance out of it and I’m being generous. Did I get a bum bottle/batch?

Have you tried Bowling Green and do you agree they share similarities? By the way, I blind purchased ADP Colonia, and wow, really loving it. My biggest problem is I’m going to blow through the bottle too fast haha. Even my wife likes it.

I picked up the cologne version in 2019 in London. I don't think Chanel sells that one in the US. One of the classic men's fragrances.

@@ScentsOfSouthJersey I thought Arts Traveler meant EDT when he referred to "cologne." The EDP replaced the Cologne Concentree, which was discontinued years prior to 2019. The EDT is still sold in Europe and was sold in the US at Chanel boutiques until sometime in 2018, IIRC.

@@Mikeaveli2682 I still have about 15% left from the 2nd edt concentree splash bottle that I bought in the 1980's, which I understand is stronger than both the edt and edp sold today. Chanel is one brand I'd be reluctant to purchase anywhere other than an authorized Chanel retailer. For some reason, the online sites of Macy's, Nordstrom's, Nieman Marcus or Bloomingdales don't carry Chanel Pour Monsieur EdP. When I asked in NYC's Macy's Herald Square store a few years ago, they told me I would have to go to the Chanel boutique or Bloomies who sold it at the time.

Ralph Lauren Chaps from 1979. It had a brown bottle, silver cap, and longhorn engraving. It was certainly the manliest and most powerful fragrance that I have ever smelled. It was a true cowboy's scent, something I would picture Kid Rock wearing while he chills with Hank Williams Jr. drinking whiskey and shooting guns and shit. They ain't never gonna bring that back, but damn, I'll always remember Chaps.
